Thank you for sharing! I’ve ordered some to try!!
I made my first mini zine today, but I want to make a few more to stick in the pockets of a grimoire I'm working on. I like the idea of having a blank one for some journaling later! Also, some days I don't have the time for a huge art project, but I want to make a little progress on my grimoire and do something creative. A mini zine is the perfect solution. Thanks for all the great tips!
You've made it looks so easy and you've inspired me to use my own art markers for making zines. I've had them for years but not really used them, now I will. Thank you!
It's fun to see how others pack their art supplies. 🙌
Thank you for this video. 🎉
Making zines is my new obsession. 😅
Very cool!
Just made a ZINE!! TFS!
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing your process.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!!
Love this! I haven’t written on tracing paper BEFORE affixing it to the collage. Definitely going to try that next time! ❤
It's no fun getting sick while travelling. I agree with your thoughts on Hanoi. We loved it too. I also love your journal pages. Take care. ❤
Ahh, thanks for watching! Yes, HaNoi was great! Feeling better now 🙌🏼
Wellness wishes for you. Take care. 🫖. 👋👋👋😎
Thanks! ❤️🌏
Get well soon! ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you, already starting to feel better!
beautiful studio and awesome tutorial!! thank you for sharing!!! hugs from Canada
Thank you so much for sharing your far away journey and your wonderful style of art journaling with us! I literally gave up on adding sentiment to my art journaling awhile ago .. I ruined soooo many writing utensils! So then I tried showing up to a blank page to just write and it was so boring I quit! I have been praying that somehow God would help me figure this out .. and then miraculously you showed up in my feed! And I have started writing in my art journal again! I have always had a separate art journal but needed a creative way to reflect and document to memory keep the important times and events in my life! So thank you for sharing! This style is truly a game changer for me and I am truly grateful! God bless! Be safe! ❤
I am so glad you shared this! And glad this new way of incorporating text onto your pages is working well and you're loving it!! It makes me so happy that you've continued your art journaling. ❤️ Excited for you to follow along and reach out anytime if you're feeling stuck! 💕🎨
Thanks for taking us on your travels. Brings back good memories of my holidays there. Love your journal. ❤
Ahh, wonderful! When did you go?
@@katiegebely First time in 2006 for 3 weeks backpacking and briefly in 2019 after a wonderful trip down the Mekong (and various forms of transport) from Thailand. 😁
@@wjblake66 wow, amazing! We're headed to Thailand next!
@@katiegebely Thailand was probably our favourite destination in SE Asia. I know you'll enjoy it. Still have the colouring pencils and little sketch book I used there. ❤
@@wjblake66 really? I'm excited! Did you have a favorite spot there?
Looking good 🎉
Thanks! 🙂
Fantastic to hear about your travels.
thank you! more to come!
❤️🌍 Thanks, it's been an adventure for sure!!
*I want to start a mini zine/journal subscription for my subscribers. Are you making one zine then copying it to send out? Are you using a service for copying or doing it yourself? I love your easy flow art zines!* #NewSubbie
Hey there! When making them for my subscribers, I usually create one, then make copies. I will often add unique touches to each zine after it's been copied, so there are small differences between each one. It's important that they each feel personal and unique. Hope that helps!!
Yesterday you inspired me to make my first zine . I love it. I started making a second one, which I didn’t like because I tried to much. Thanks for this video, it helps me to carry on. Greetings from Germany ❤❤❤
I really like your video, I like the voice and maybe a little music would be interesting. However, if that's not your style, you should return to the way you are doing them now. ❤
Thanks for your input! ❤️
Love the individual page idea? Do you eventually bind the book? If so how?
I am so glad I found your channel! I have been looking for ways to add my words my thoughts to my work and this is perfect! And I love that you work on individual papers not already bound .. and idea that I will have to try! Do you bind these eventually or no? ❤
So glad you're here!! I generally don't end up binding them, but maybe I should! I think I find freedom in knowing I can always go back and add more. 🙂
@@katiegebely how do you store them? Binder clips? Forgive me if you already addressed this🙃 .. I love this overall idea separate individual pages .. very freeing indeed❤️
@@terrihanna4199yes, usually binder clips!
*I'm talking a weekend trip on the bike (motorcycle) this weekend and we tent camp. Think I'll make a mini glue book and travel journal to take with me! Thx for the idea!!*
Oh love it! Have fun!
Have fun on your journey. 😎
Thank you! 🌍
Enjoy your travels Katie. Look forward to your videos. ❤
Thanks so much! ❤
Get some watercolor pens, you will never look back 😃😁
Yesss, for sure!
Thanks for sharing with us. Appreciate encouragement. 🙏😎
So welcome, thanks for watching!
Beautiful journal!
Thank you!
What a good idea to use that kind of paper for collage.
Thank you!
This is what is so good. To follow your thought process as I can relate to many of the same thoughts. ❤ Just a lovely video as are all your videos.
Thanks so much for the feedback, glad you connected with it! ❤️
Thank you for this video - I really enjoyed it! Can you give me an idea how you price these in your studio - you mentioned you wanted to have some for people to purchase during the tour. Can you give me an idea of how you price these for sale? I appreciated the time you took making the video, it is very helpful. Sincerely - Lynn
Hello, love watching your videos❤
Hi there! Wonderful, thanks for watching!
Looks like a good beginning technique for the nervous Nellie. Thanks for sharing easy ways to begin to put something’s on paper. Plus… I love the thought of using a Sharpie. 😎
❤❤
Beautiful Katie. Will make a wonderful book. Thanks for sharing all your thoughts and ideas. ❤
Thank you! I hope so, excited to see how it comes together!
Because I am completely new to mixed media, I benefit so much from you talking and creating. I am unfamiliar with supplies or thoughts on this type of art so hearing about it is helpful. You have a calm way of sharing which is enjoyable!
Ohh, thank you for this feedback! Glad you're giving mixed media a go, it's so fun! Let me know if I can help in any way! ❤️
I stumbled across your channel and was immediately inspired to make my third zine, my first mixed media anything! The video was great and I love your style of teaching while creating. I learned a whole lot in just this one video, thanks so much for sharing! I subscribed!
I really enjoy and benefit from your current presentation method. When I hear and watch the what, hear and why it is so very helpful. I want to start an art journal and I am a person with no training. You could say I’m soaking up what I can while working up the gumption to begin. Watching and listening to you is helpful in my process. Thanks.🙏🙏🙏😎
I also could have written this comment!
Glad this is helpful, and excited for you to start a new journal! Have you started yet, would love to hear how it's going! ❤️
I enjoy the videos the way you do them with the commentary.❤
Wonderful, thanks for letting me know!
Thank you for your videos! I prefer the way you present your videos now. Talking through what you're doing.
Ok, great, thanks for letting me know!
I’ve made two complete zines so far, and I’m working on a mini, like the one you’ve done. The first one I made was out of a 24 x 18 sheet of Canson Mis Tientes paper. I did this cut and fold thing where I wound with with 16 pages. Obviously, it would be hard to copy it, since, unfolded, it’s huge. It’s this story about thiis real arrogant, blowhard guy I met in the health club hot tub. It’s full of my cartoons, done in pen and ink and also Posca acrylic markers. The second zine I made was also from a 24 x 18 sheet of paper-a tribute to one of my grad school professors who died a few years ago. It had everything to do with stars and constellations. Again with the Posca pens-this time lots of blue and gold streaks and stars in the background. And my latest little mini zine is going to be printable. It’s about oak trees. Just a bunch of factoids with illustrations of Oaky things (acorns, leaves, buds, bark). And then I’ll do one about maples, and one about pines, and so forth.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing! Love that you're embracing the larger paper too!
This is completely different than what I do and I love it ❤ Thank you for sharing ❤
Oh nice! How do you go about it?!
Thanks Katie. Really inspiring. ❤
You're welcome! 💕
Very cool to see your process. Thanks for sharing!!
You're welcome!
No to music.
Noted 🤓
Howdy from Corpus Christi, TX. Your ATC vid popped up and it was perfect timing because I am going to be doing about 100 of them. I have them cut but never did one before. YES I subscribed. Thank you
Oh amazing! How'd they turn out?
I prefer no music myself. Less is more.
Great, thanks for sharing! Agreed - less is more ❤
I found your KZread channel today and your way of making zines is something I hadn't seen yet. I have only been into zines for a few months, buying a few online and trying to make my own. I wasn't happy with how the ones I made looked though. The way you make zines is so carefree and fun--a good way to be creative with words and art. I love that there are no mistakes. Thanks for sharing your technique, I am off to go make a zine now!
So glad you found your way to my channel!! Can't wait to hear how yours turn out! And let me know if you have any questions, have fun with it! ❤️🎉
Beautiful, Katie! 🌸
Thank you!
