The 480 had 2 issues.the Renix unit and the CEM . Apart from that it was much loved by women,a bit of an alternative to Japanese coupes . The 2.0 and turbo versions was a bit of a beast. The run out celebration model is very hard to come by they threw everything at it . We as a Volvo franchise dealer in findon west Sussex did very well with 480 sales . Nice to see one being brought back to life.

I've only just come across this video and have to disagree with the comments made about breaking the car for spares. It is not a very common model with most of them succumbing to the dreaded tin worm that most Alfa Romeo's suffered through out then 70's and early80's. Consequently there is little demand for spare parts for this model. Then to break it it needs further time to dismantle when they could be using the time to restore another vehicle. It would probably take months to part the car out and the best place for that is within a dismantlers. The car was a bad buy in the first instant and at times when youneed to make money you have to cut your losses.

The most common fault on that car is the K40 relay unit. That's the first item you should removed and checked for dry solder cracks. I'd reckon every Merc forum in the world has several posts on this issue. And how did you get the car started when fitting the ECU from another car, can't be done unless the immobilizer is reprogrammed!

I hope you used automotive contact adhesive on that headlining otherwise after a few hot days in summer you will be back to where you was.

Personally, there are literally thousands of these for sale, so you are not spoiled for choice. Soon as I see bubbles of rust on the rear arches, I just know from experience there will be a lot more rust hidden away on these. A none runner with a solid body could be bought for less, and easier to fix the simple engine on these than start digging for hidden rust.

I know I'm watching this a bit late in the day but the dashboard can be sorted, Club Auto Porsche, Cradley Heath, Dudley make and stock a replacement top for the dash board it will fit directly over the cracked dash top using some adhesive.

I had only just subscribed from the Porsche episode but now I've nu-subscribed as I've never seen such stupidity on a car restoration channel. I was waiting for the "haha gotcha moment" where they stopped and said they were joking but when the whole car got crushed so did this channel and it's future!

So with holes in the parcel shelf, rusty wheel arches, and a cr@p repair you got 1,800. What an absolute crock - it's Edd China without the skill.
