What’s the best color for brownish-red roofs and the neighborhood houses in warm, neutral browns/ earth colors? What is a good combination for the brownish-red roof; we can’t decide on the color of everything, like the door, window trims, and the gutters. We aim to make our “the smallest house in the neighborhood” more appealing and charming but with a modern farmhouse feel.
Hi there! You’re going to want to sample a lot of the pale Greiges and beige colors that I called out!

Hi I’m looking for a sage green colour for an accent wall in my bedroom, north facing which does not get much light. Sayebrook or clary sage, but very open to your professional opinion. Then the other 3 walls not quite sure if you could suggest. Love watching your videos…thank you so much.
I'm having a very difficult time searching for a body paint for my Hardie board which is in big triangles above my mixed brick exterior. The brick is mostly clay colored with brown and black bricks dotting it. It's awful. I'm not going to paint the brick. Just the Hardie siding parts and the trim. I already have black clad windows. I would love to go dark and I would love to go green because my stand alone garage will be all one color and I would love a dark green on the garage. My roof is a mix of light and medium dark charcoal. If you have a service which I could utilize to suggest the best color combo (where I send you pics) please let me know.
Hi! I’d love to help you with a virtual paint consultation. I’m sold out this week, but will reopen them again on Monday. You can find my services here: homelikeyoumeanit.com/hire-me/
What do you think of Sherwin Williams Ivory Lace for a brighter exterior with Iron Ore gutters and garage doors?
I think this color combination has an expiration date that is fast approaching. If you love it, go for it, though. I would probably go a bit darker and use a body color like shoji white.
I am currently remodeling my 1940s craftsman bungalow style home. Im doing matte black roof, shoji white body, pure white trim, urbane bronze accent and 50% special walnut stain for gables and porches. Is this a good combo?
Maybe a bit too much going on. If you are doing a black roof, ideally you should repeat that color somewhere. Shutters, doors, etc. Perhaps go with a warmer roof that relates to the walnut stain more and forget the black altogether.
What is the paint color on the built ins
BM Britannia Blue
Can you recommend a trim color for shutters for a two story white home with a warm color roof?
I like BM saybrook sage or SW debonair
What color is that cabinet behind you? I was hoping that would be one of the colors you were going to talk about.
That's the first one I talked about! BM Britannia blue!
We are doing a kitchen with White Dove perimeter cabinets, need a blue-gray for the island and pantry. We love Hale Navy, and were thinking of a lighter shade (New Hope Gray / Black Pepper / Pike's Peak Gray) but wonder if that will be too cool (purple) with a light engineered oak floor. Do you always need a hint of green to warm things up?
Not at all! I like the green undertones when you want an overall read.
Cannot stand cherry cabinets.
Nothing is cheap these days or free. Everything costs.
I hate beige so much! Off white all the way. I prefer dark grey accents to light greys.
It is more enjoyable when you show both the 'befores' and the "afters."
What is the best sage green (mid tone) to go with SW Alabaster? This would be in a laundry room with very little natural light.
Do you use the same color white you choose for the house exterior on the exterior trim?
Yes! The sheen will change though!
What is the color of the cabinets behind you?? That really pretty darker blue Grey. I need that color!
Benjamin Moore Britannia blue!
Please help 🙏🏻 looking for a neutral beige color paint to go with new family room sofa light grey. The space is not super large. The flooring: Hardwood floor original color (home built in 1951). Thank you 🙏🏻🥰
Hi! With this scenario, it would be best for me to see your space and the type (undertone)of grey couch that you have. I do offer paint consults if you are interested: homelikeyoumeanit.com/hire-me/
I have a house with a low slope white pvc roof. Bottom of the front of the house has dark, uniform red brick. Front door is red. Garage is prominently in front (of course). Do you think a white colored body with dark trim would work for this house? I’m considering staining the bricks as needed. Thanks.
First and last one are my favs❤
So helpful, thank you!
Absolutely love this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How about in a basement?
With no windows? You’re better off doing a pale neutral. Whites/off-whites can go too cold in spaces with low natural light.
@@homelikeyoumeanit one window. It's already painted a light gray.
Just used this color (Quiet Moments) for one of my upstairs bedrooms and the bathroom. It's a very soothing and spa-like color that shows up beautifully during all times of day and night. The tine changes slightly as the sunlight moves around the house where the bedroom is located but never looks too blue or green. I used Chantilly Lace trim color throughout my house and it looks beautiful with Quiet Moments and Silver Cloud which was used in another guest bedroom.
I love quiet moments!
@@homelikeyoumeanit It is beautiful!
What blue is that behind you?
BM Britannia Blue
No sherwin williams gossimer veil?
What color is on the walls behind you on the panelled wall???
BM Britannia Blue
@@homelikeyoumeanit Beside that? The off white😻?
@@harinisp4850 Sorry, it's Benjamin Moore White Dove. My absolute favorite!!
My former home was painted in SW Pure White. I lived there for 16 years. When I was buying the house, I wanted it to be white so the design center told me to go to a sister neighborhood and see if I liked any of the white homes. There were a few. I loved the pure white with red door. My red door was a different shade and I had black shutters. I had so many compliments over the years. It was a stunning house. I sold it to downsize.
SW Pure White is a great choice for a true white. Technically, it's considered an off-white, which is why it doesn't read too stark outside!
Would love to know your paint color suggestion for a deck off the back of our house the body color of the house is SW Orchard
The gray house with white trim and red door is exactly what we’ve been looking for. Can you suggest what colors would work for this?
Perhaps try SW gray clouds, SW extra white and Poinsettia.
Love your video and hope you will be doing more of them. I currently have a pinkish orange brick ranch somewhat like the brick home with too bright blue shutters. I went with a gray roof instead of brown only because im so sick of brown. Our gable area is a lighter gray. Thinking about a dark creamy gray for accents (shutters). Does this seem ok to you?
So hard to make suggestions in this case (too various undertone issues) without seeing your home. I do offer virtual color consults if you're interested: homelikeyoumeanit.com/hire-me/
When I changed the temp & hue of light bulbs in my darker painted room, it changed the paint color lighter & I loved it.
Beige wasn't trending until the 2000s. The 90s were mauves, maroons, peaches, & cornflower blue. And LOTS of sponge painting!
Late 90’s beige came on the scene, that’s how it became popular in the 2000’s.
Our home is surrounded by Tall evergreen trees. If one of the suggested paints have a green undertone, will that make the green in the paint come forward? The back of our home is in bright sun but the front is shady most of the day.
You shouldn't have a problem!
This was a wonderful and helpful video! Can you share the paint information on the cabinets behind you, that is beautiful! I am watching this on 6/28/24 and Sherman Williams has just gone under.
SW is alive and well. A local branch may have closed in your town, but the company as a whole is doing just fine. Cabinets are BM Britannia Blue.
What do you think about BM Thundercloud Gray? For a living room. I’ve had the living room BM Revere Pewter for so long and sick of it.
It’s a completely different vibe than revere pewter and a bit darker. If you have warmer tones in your furniture/fixed elements it likely won’t be for you!
classic, classic, classic. then you dont get😊 tired of it in 5 mins.
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
I wish paint companies would label (code colors) as warm, cool, neutral and give the undertone blue, green, pink etc. I look at them on a white piece of paper ....its much easier to see the undertones.
Yes, looking at everything with a white piece of paper and comparing colors never fails!
thanks for all your knowledge! which color is the blue/gray cabinets behind you painted?
You're welcome. That's Benjamin Moore Britannia Blue.
What are your thoughts on Magnolia Wellington Green? Also want input on cream trim colors with green
That's very pretty! I don't advise using cream colors for trim, as it just looks too yellow and dirty. Go with Cloud White with this one.
what color white goes with a gray brick with a very dark purple for trim and fascia almost looks black
Could you please share your beautiful flooring?
Sure, here is a link to our floors: znetflooring.com/mohawk-seaside-tides-sea-salt-oak
So informative and detailed!! What color family would you go with for a terracotta red with black highlighted asphalt shingles. I can't decide which way to go with such a bright roof, and replacing just isn't an option!
Look at Greige and beige colors!
@homelikeyoumeanit thanks, for narrowing it down. It's hard to find information on pairing with roof color in mind!
Great video! very informative! What color are your floors? are they hardwood or laminate? Thank you!
Thanks so much! Here is a link to our floors. It’s engineered hardwood. znetflooring.com/mohawk-seaside-tides-sea-salt-oak
Can you please let me know what the color of the light wall that is to your back during your intro of this video ?
It’s Benjamin Moore white dove.
If I paint my kitchen cabinets wick ham gray. What color should the walls and ceiling be ? It’s an old beach cottage with beadboard walls and ceiling. Only one kitchen window not a lot of light. Have white gray tile flooring and white quartz counters. Thank y
You could do white dove or chantilly lace.
@@homelikeyoumeanit thank you
Love your content! 😊
Thank you so much!
Great overall information. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Your videos are so helpful! I plan to use SW Tempe Star to paint below the chair rail in my kitchen. Waterloo was another color I considered. My kitchen gets quite a bit of light. Tempe Star is not on your list. What are your thoughts?
Tempe Star is beautiful! If your kitchen gets a lot of light it should be fine, but make sure you test out a large sample, because this color is dark enough to go too dark in the wrong light.
@@homelikeyoumeanit Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it! I'm disappointed that I didn't find your videos sooner. The painters will be here in 2 days! 🤞😅
I see a lot of black doors with gold hardware which I don’t want. Would brown bronze door handle look okay on a black door?
I would just black hardware!
