My bedroom is painted Accessible Beige and I love it! My furniture is gray as are my bed coverings . The accents in the room are blue. I wanted a lighter color for my walkout in my home and I went with Natural Tan. I am very happy with this color as well! Thanks for sharing!

Clear, concise, super helpful! If you were my neighbor I would be driving you crazy right about now😂 Having been a professional auto body painter for 27 years I can see all the undertones but I do not have the knack for envisioning and putting colors together. Doing the work is soooo much easier than picking colors! 🤦🏻‍♂️ Great stuff though! I’ve been binge watching your videos and they’ve been super helpful…… gives me hope lol. Thank you!

Thanks so much for watching and for your kind comment! Hopefully this helps you in your quest to choosing the right neutral color! Accessible beige is great, but keep in mind, it is a darker neutral and you do need a lot of natural light to let it shine!

Could you do a color review of SW Gossamer Veil and Drift of Mist? I was planning to use Accessible Beige but it was pulling a pink peach color in my foyer.

I’m so overwhelmed as a single dad that just bought a new house, I use to rely on making these choices with my wife 😢. I did the main house with dove wing, a bm off white that I love. I did SW sea salt for my daughter’s room which I love! But now I’m stuck with a laundry room and two bedrooms. I picked up a falling of agreeable grey and can’t decide if it should go in guest bedroom or laundry room… ugh why so hard. Beautiful eyes btw 😊

Assessable beige is best with tall ceilings and lots of light. If your rooms don't provide those, go lighter to avoid a gloomy feel.

My question is regarding lighting color choice for my can lights. I have options of 3000k, 3500k, and 4000k. I am using accessible beige in my open concept main rooms and master bath, halls, entry, stairwell and upstairs. I have lots of morning and evening sun. I have rustic oak floors and master bath cabinets. And all my trim and kitchen cabinets are SW alabaster. My accents colors are cyan blues (BM booth bay gray at full intensity in my master BR, and lightened by 1/2 in my dining area. Also have SW sticks and stones in guest BR and BA which can be seen from main level. Kitchen island is BM wrought iron surrounded by alabaster wall cabinets and accessible beige paint. What lighting color would you recommend for all my can lights? Should my lamps match the color of the cans?? Thank you for your advice. 😊

My preference is always soft, white light. I like 2700k or just "soft white" when you're looking for bulbs. I am also a fan of layering lights and really prefer to keep cans off (in spaces like living rooms, offices, bedrooms) and use lots of lamps instead. The higher the the kelvin, the cooler the light, which gives kind of a sterile look, in my opinion.

Love your video. Great review and comparison. I am looking for a paint color for kitchen cabinets in Eastern facing kitchen - room Size aprox 13’x17’. The kitchen has 8 recessed can lighting at 3000k (could go to 2700k but the lights really do alter the colors) and will have island pendants and under cabinet lighting. The counter is white pearl quartzite. Flooring is red oak stained bona medium brown. One window over sink and a slider. Whole house paint color is classic gray. What lrv becomes too heavy in eastern light for cabinets? Does it matter with all the overhead lights? Does the paint translate differently on walls vs cabinets? I was looking at accessible beige and worldly along with natural cream, edgecomb, pale oak, winds breath, classic gray and so many others. I am all over the place. I could color drench with classic gray but I’d love some contrast. I am not opposed if I needed to paint the kitchen walls white since nothing I am looking at goes with classic gray. Not looking for anything too beige or too gray too. Walls and lighting in a “ regular” room I get. A kitchen in really throwing me off. Any guidance would be appreciated. Ty.

Hi there, thanks for watching! I'd stick with something with an LRV of 60 and above for your cabinets. The cabinets are typically painted in a higher sheen than the walls, so there will be a sheen difference if you do it all the same color. Classic gray has a green undertone if that helps. I'd love to help you more, but feel like I'd need to see the space to really recommend something that would work well for you. I do offer virtual color consultations if you're interested: homelikeyoumeanit.com/hire-me/

If I want accessible beige but would like to make it more in the 60+ LRV range, can I just have SW formulate it 25% (or more) lighter?

I don't recommend it. Go with SW accolade or BM Edgecomb Gray.

Do you recommend light purple cream paint with accessible beige for accent color for 5 year old girls bedroom? Or what do you recommend? Thanks!

If you want to do a pale purple and then a neutral I'd go with something like silver satin or Balboa mist. Those are both greiges with purple undertones. Might be a good place to start and then you can see how they interact.

Why purple?! The guy who painted my condo said he used Accessible Beige. I only had 2 small square foot spaces where new dry wall had been replaced I bought the second quart today because the first one had no beige tone, but looked purple over the color on my wall. When the new quart was opened, it looked fine. One roll on the wall once again looks purple-beige and doesn’t come close to blending into the original color. So two times the real wall color wasn’t the same as what is there. I would’ve done better having HD match it rather than go to Sherwin Williams maybe. I asked if purple was in the mix and he said no, but You mentioned purple I thought? If the color had been right, it would’ve taken 10 minutes to paint the 2 areas! What can I do now?? Thank You for that informative explanation!

Accessible beige doesn't have purple, but it is technically a gray paint color and gray colors have either purple, blue or green undertones. Accessible Beige has a green undertone, no purple!

Would accessible beige go well with natural alder kitchen cabinets?

I would actually recommend you go a bit lighter. You want more of a contrast between wall color and the cabinets. Sample SW Shoji White and Neutral Ground and see what you think!
