Hello Carmel, I will have to try the Maybelline product because I find it has a very natural effect on the skin. I have roughly the same skin tone as you with olive undertones too and it's very difficult to find a product dyed with an olive undertone. Thank you for sharing

There is no shade 34 in maybelline skin tint
Hi! Where in the world are you? In Europe we definitely have 34. However, I just looked over on the US website & it seems the shades are numbered differently! I didn’t realise. The best thing to do is to look at the shade description to find the best match 💕

@@Alliecat670 Hi there! So I did email Maybelline but didn’t hear anything back as yet. I’ve trawled through the shades and I think the closest match for you would be 220. This is described as ‘light medium with warm subtle olive undertones’. It actually sounds like a great option if you’re a similar shade to me! These shades are somewhat flexible, so I wouldn’t overly worry if it’s not exact. Sorry if that’s not helpful! Please do let me know how you get on and I’ll let you know if I hear back from Maybelline ☺️
Such an in-depth comparison. I was surprised by the longevity of both. I think I am leaning towards the L’Oréal 😊

I love that you recognize that everyone’s skin is different. I just threw away my L’Oréal because I always chose the Maybelline over it; way better for my 57 y/o skin!

I love a day that includes a video from you! I have to admit, even though I guessed correctly, I couldn't tell a big difference in the two on your face (I think that'sdue to your skill in applying them). If I had to choose, I would have to go for the warmer of the two. I think I'm a touch more yellow olive than you. Thank you for your in-depth reviews! Still adore you...sent you my email. Hi Carmel! The L'Oreal looks so beautiful and airbrushed on you! I remember it oxidizing when I owned it a couple years ago. I didn't love it at the time when I lived in humid, tropical Florida 🌴🏖☀but my skin is much drier now. I've been looking at the Maybelline tint and much prefer the shade range. I think the Maybelline is very skin-like on you! Both are so nice. I do agree that the L'Oreal wears into more of a skin-like finish on you but the Maybelline looks a tad more makeup-y as the day went on. Very interesting! I think I will have to try the Maybelline now.

Hi Carmel thank you for your thorough testing (I've come to expect from you 😊) of these 2 products. I haven't tried the Maybelline yet but am intrigued by the olive shades available as all previous tests I've seen have leant towards a pink toned finish (of which I'm not a fan 😬). I think I would be tempted to try this as I like a light product but prefer the coverage of the Maybelline over the L'Oreal. Having tried the L'Oreal I wasn't a fan of the oxidisation, the amount needed or the messiness, but did enjoy the serum feel of the product. Much love as always! Xx❤

Thank you! This is great advice. I’ve been literally ‘haunted’ by my purple shadows for as long as I can remember and I use concealer every day - even if it’s a ‘no make up day’. Your tip about getting a lighter concealer is right- I’ve around six concealers and I remember the one I liked best was a lighter one - I can’t get it any more. But I also have quite prominent eye bags (forget fat pads- mine resemble shoulder bags!) any advice for these? I also have a lot of wrinkles under my eyes as a result of trying to wear contact lenses years ago.
Hi Ruth ☺️ Oh I understand, under eyes can be so frustrating! I think your best bet is to start with a firming, plumping serum. Just make sure it’s a serum (not a cream) as they contain the active ingredients which will firm & hydrate! Then make sure you use powder to set, this will reduce the look of the bags because you’re taking away the reflection of the hollow. I’m actually in the process of testing out about 15 drugstore concealers 🙈 I’m hoping the video will be complete in a couple of weeks, so that might be helpful when choosing a new concealer? I can come back here & let you know when I’ve published it! ☺️💕

The new formula is a lot less pigmented. For example, the new Russian Red has to be applied two or three more times to get an opaque coverage.

Carmel, I LOVE your nails!! I don't think I own a coral nail color anymore but coral nails used to be my favorite. My skin has gotten so dry lately and I've been using an overnight mask by Kiehls which I do love but I've never heard of the Clinique! I might have to try that next. I have been blind to products for dry skin because I had oily skin for so long ..... ahh hormones lol I've wanted to purchase the NuFace for a while but have yet to pull the trigger but I do think I will age like my mother which is jowls vs. hollowing... I've heard people rarely have both types of aging so microcurrent it shall be! I think your hair looks wonderful and very healthy ☺💖✨

Oh my GOD…can’t believe I got a mention 😂 I nearly died!! 😂 Would still love to see a brush video! So intrigued by the Rephr one. Love the colour of that brow pencil on you in comparison to the Mac one 👍 Defo going to try that tubing mascara too; I’m using the Elf Lash Extender one at the moment and just bought the KVD one too, going to try it later. I actually put the Elf one on top of Essence Lash Princess so that I could get some volume too and it worked a treat…no under eye melting at all! Hope you’re having a fab time on holidays ❤ PS - tried the Dcypher…shade was a tad warm and longevity wasn’t brilliant. Contacted customer service and they made a few suggestions and said they’d send me a new one, it just arrived. So, TBC!!!

I have shade 5 and 1.5 in my cart right now! I don't think I can resist that beautiful olivey undertone but 5 is a little dark for me. I don't like having a ton of foundations but I really do best when I use two different shades - one for perimeter of my face and one for the middle. This looks so good for good skin days! Which I haven't been having lately, so time will tell if I end up purchasing. I think the audio sounded just fine. I hope you had a great time in Spain! 🇪🇸💃🏻💛
Hey you! Oh definitely, it’s great for good skin days! I think you’re right about the lighter shade for the perimeter, all over would be a bit too much to tone down I think! I bet your husband could feel the 110+ degree heat then. It was the warmest June here on record. Yes, I do the shopping in the early morning, hydrate with water all day and stay in more. I prefer the heat over the cold, so my husband and I are fine living here. But, most people do not prefer it. Hope you have a wonderful 4th too! You are incredible as always. Thank you!

Hmm, I’m wondering if it’s the colour that they’re saying hasn’t changed? Because they’re definitely a reformulation! I guess I can only report back from my own experience & the colour of velvet Teddy has definitely changed unfortunately 😭 If you try any of the new ones you’ll have to let me know what you think too! 🩷

Oh gosh I absolutely do! Obviously different lipsticks can look different on every individual, but I think the mauve/pink undertone to this would be beautiful on brown skin. I’m olive and can find shades tricky, but I had no issues with it 🩷
Do you do anything to prevent crows feet?
Hi there! Crows feet are so tricky to prevent! Firstly, keep the under eye area fully hydrated by using plumping serums that contain active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. Serums are great at penetrating and firming. My best piece of advice would be to avoid accentuating them. So basically use a very minimal amount of concealer in that area (or none at all if you can!) and I would also avoid using powder in that area too. I never powder near my crows feet because that area is constantly moving and powder can accentuate lines terribly! The only foolproof way outside of all this would be Botox. Sorry if that’s not helpful at all 🩷

Oh gosh I’m sorry! Did you use a lighter shade of concealer? I’m only putting the concealer *in the line/contour* - only where it *dips* in. If you’re still concerned with darkness outside of that area, you can use a different shade of concealer (one that matches your skin tone more) in that area. You just have to make sure that you only use a lighter shade in that hollow part that dips in. Thats because adding a light colour ‘brings things forward’ and similarly, adding a dark shade would ‘push things back’. We are adding light because we want to give the illusion of bringing that contour forward, making the hollow seem less visible! Sometimes you just need to keep practicing! It can take a few tries, for sure. Good luck, don’t give up trying 🩷☺️
