How bizarre. Poorly made and fitting Chinese manufactured parts. So unusual. BUY JAPANESE.
@@bobbellendovich6825 you get what you get when there's no better option at the time. I made my own. No purchase necessary....
Thank you so much!! Was sure I broke something ☠ Couldn't find anything in the manual either
Glad it was useful.
Some people want this but you have natural
Some people want what? Not sure I understand your comment. If you are saying people want ethanol blended fuel, they are ignorant of the facts and do not understand what their machine needs.
@@DualSportADVmoto some people want firing in their silencer permanent
@@gamespace0125 I think we have some translation error as your reply made no sense.
@@DualSportADVmoto where are you from ? I mean Some people want Blasts sound and firing In Exhaust
@@gamespace0125 I think I understand now. I'm from the United States of America. Doesn't matter if someone wants their bike to pop. It's 99.9% of the time ALWAYS going to be bad for the engine. I only give good advice on my channel.
The best video tip ever. After installing a hydraulic clutch on my 2000KLR and having no clutch and going back to a new cable WTH no success and then replacing the clutch entirely with no success I did your tip and everything works Thanks
Awesome! Glad to hear it helped.
I made a wood dowel/jig for mine, I take the pinion out of the hub and place it correctly on the tab slots, then the drive slides on. The whole lot is then held in place while I fit the wheel. Once in place I use the axle bolt to push out the dowel. Yes I only came up with this after wrecking a hub by incorrect tab placement.
That's a great method and tip for anyone reading the comments.
What the hell!
It's from over a year ago. Just a shorter version.
@@DualSportADVmoto oh ok I was thinking, "not again!"
@@ScratchBabble yeah. That would truly suck. I honestly forgot I posted the other video until after this uploaded.
Sir, I wish I saw your video before I tried to change my clutch plate last week. I broke the clutch spring under that arm on my Z800 when trying to pull my clutch cable out that notch…
Sorry to hear that happened.
Thank you!!! Had myself a little panic attack when my actuator arm got stuck, your video was perfect!
Glad it helped.
Dude! you are awesome! I could not figure out what happened. Thank you SO MUCH! Really useful video!
Glad it helped.
I agree, this choke is the way and Lectron should add this over the cabled one.
God bless you for making this. I was ready to open up the damn clutch cover and learn this the hard way!
Thank you. I'm glad it helped.
Thanks VERY helpfull indeed!!!
Glad it was useful for you.
Are you supposed to be able to move it with your hand
It can be difficult for some depending on hand strength, but yes you should be able to move it at least a little. The main thing you are looking for is it's position. If it's sitting flush with the case is is improperly installed. If it is pointing back from the cable over 90° in relation to the side of the engine - it's installed improperly. If you haven't pulled it out of the case or turned it by hand there is little chance that it is installed wrong though.
Lifesaver, I went through the whole process you just described 😅 You even had an extra one to demonstrate what’s happening inside.. Brilliant ❤
Exactly why I did this. Plenty of folks run across this the hard way.
@@DualSportADVmoto subscription added brother!
Thanks. Just checked out your channel and subscribed to you as well.
@@DualSportADVmoto awesome! Keeps the gears shifting, thanks for the support 💪
You should add fuel stabilizer when not riding the bike for above month.
When using ethanol fuel sure. If you were aal follower you would know that I do Not normally use ethanol fuel and was in an accident that left me mostly bed ridden for over 6 weeks. This bike has never been neglected for this long since I bought it in 2018. And just fyi - fuel with ethanol in it still absorbs moisture and causes corrosion with aluminum, zinc, and brass after 6 weeks even with stabilizer. Ask me how I know.
@@DualSportADVmoto Ethanol is completely harmless compared to benzene, toluene, xylene that are in your 87E10 gas up to 58% content. Im not a follower, your video came up when I searched for videos on ethanol fuel.
Not to be contrary, but as a long time mechanic I have directly tested ethanol on particular types of metals, rubbers, and gasket materials just to prove otherwise before it was widely talked about and the fact that I have always preferred carburetors and mechanical fuel pumps on all of my vehicles since FI started to become mainstream. Ethanol combined with the water it attracts (hygrophobic nature of ethanol) does in fact degrade many widely used rubber compounds used is seals and diaphragms on pre - ethanol added fuels along with a serious problem of corrosion on many metals used in older style fuel systems. I have had real gasoline without stabilizer sit for extended times with little to no consequences in my very old vehicles and motorcycles vs a matter of weeks with ethanol added fuels with and without many different "stabilizers" all to the same effect which us corrosion and certain rubber/rubber clad breakdown. But I digress. I've only dealt with this since before the beginning of this "new" fuel.
@@DualSportADVmoto Ok. I think that one reason why Im not experiencing issues with ethanol is partially because my vehicles are designed by factory to take 10% ethanol gasoline. Thanks for your answers.
What kind of grease do you use?
Wheel bearing grease.
I'm looking at doing this trot in november
Awesome! Come on down or over or whatever. I'll be there. Hopefully I'll be healed up enough to ride, but I'll be there nonetheless as I live a matter of minutes south of Blackwater. I take it you are already on the advrider thread for this year's TT?
@@DualSportADVmoto what happened?? I too am healing up. I went out sat with one of the pc dirt riders groups guy. And I had a front wheel washout on the shoulder of hwy and kissed the asfault. I believe I'm familiar with your riding on scratch babbles channel. Is that you. I have enjoyed watching you teach him sand techniques
It was a street wreck. Front tire went flat and came unseated off of the bead when turning into a gas station to check the front tire since it felt "weird" right before. There's a 2 ish minute video from a few days ago here on this channel. And yes that's me in the older Scratch Babble videos and he's in a few of my older vids. I'm trying to get him back out slowly but surely just as soon as I'm able. Hope you get healed up soon from your accident.
@@DualSportADVmoto really happy to meet you Zac. We shall both need healing and I will stay in touch. I too ride a klr. 1999 model year. I gave it new life back in 2019 and started PARC ADV ON YOU TUBE. Thanks for the conversation.
Absolutely! Ditto.
Dont lube your chain! WD 40 to keep it from rusting is all. End of story. It been that way for 40 years.
I'm sorry, but I've tested that method and it led to premature chain and sprocket wear. So NO.
@@DualSportADVmoto ok
Thanks, excellent vid
You are welcome. Glad it was helpful.
Sup dude, good to use? I'll give credit in the description and on the video too! thanks in advance.
Sure.
Thanks for the vid. My neighbor has ben asking me to help him with his .seems basic but I can c wair people can get it in wrong .I hope his hub is ok lol. First time I did a brake job I remember backing out of the shop full speed in my 66 mustang just to find I had no brakes lol I got them pumped up real quick will on the go .no hate done lesson learned .allwase pump brakes to get the caliper back in place
You're welcome. Hope all goes well.
The tire guy Kyle Bradshaw says just rum 30lbs front and rear all the time
The proper answer is "Well, that depends". One set of rules never holds true to everyone's needs. I advise running more than that to protect the rims from hard single track as this bike does on a regular basis while loaded down. I am also not into airing up and down for little to no benefit. With proper technique 1 pressure setting "can" do most everything.
hey there, how's it going? Can I feature this clip for my next video edit? I will credit you with watermark on screen. Thank you in advance!
That is fine.
@@DualSportADVmoto Hey there, my video is out and your clip features as well. Here is the link kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoJqmtGSnKeYqso.html Check it out if you have the time, and thanks once again for sharing with me.
Great. Do you have a installation video? I would like to share it with my Costa Rica KLR Friends
I do not. It's pretty straight forward.
Is the lectron carb worth it? Do u notice the diff between the stock and the lec?
If you have or do other modifications that let it breathe properly - yes. But if you're talking about performance there's only so much you'll ever get from the KLR. I didn't do this for performance. I have it for not having to worry about jetting while having the responsiveness of a pumper carb. The simplicity of fixing a problem if it ever occurs - much easier than any other carburetor.
And I forgot to follow up : this was a failed outcome. The Madstad windshield was pushed too far forward which caused light from the headlight to create a "fiber optic" effect around the perimeter of the clear windshield. This caused a major decrease in visibility at night.
As I figured it didn't help much or at all. I should have brought 2 extra o-rings for the idea I originally thought of. This idea will probably not work or at least not well enough....
Super helpful. Thank you.
Glad it helped.
What a great idea
Surprised to see you have not tossed the rubber brake hoses and put on braided stainless.........
I can lock both up. When they age enough to change the brake feel I'll handle it then. It's not necessary until it is when everything is working as it's supposed to.
Thank you for the video. Exactly the situation I was faced with.
You are most welcome. The reason this video exists.
Except for drive chain adjustments....and tire pressure addition,,,I keep a notebook for everything I do to or add to my KLR's Almost....ready to add the GEN 3 to the collection........
If you would get rid of that BMW you would have enough money for a 3 ring binder, just saying 😉
Lulz. You wanna buy it?
@@DualSportADVmoto nah,I already seen under the skirt.
Why you drop the ball in your BMW? BMW doesn't like balls.
Because balls. #bmw needs #balls
Chinesium. Isn't that on the Periodic Table of Elements?
Yes. Apparently it's such a special element that it encompasses metals, plastics, woods, etc.
Or there's too many clutch friction plates and / or steels in the stack.
Had that experience you speak of: "Oh crap, I think I broke this thing". Figured it out and was greatly relieved.
I've seen so many posts over the years I figured I'd make a video for people to reference and help them figure it out.
Hello man, how are you? I would like to know if you allow me to use your video in my compilations "humble biker", I will leave the credits to you. Thank you!
Sure
@@DualSportADVmoto Thanks!

Thanks . Still here. Just regrouping.
I ran the tractionator desert ht (1 set) go over 5k miles. Then moved to the motoz mountain hybrid (2 sets) about 8k miles on each set, a few weeks ago i put on tge motoz adventure tire and so far so good.
Lol noisy..next try the tractionator desert ht..lol. Excellent off road tire btw.
Are you sure those aren't bullet holes in the side of that thing?
Positive. That's the drill angled-wallow-out special. That & I don't have any rounds that small.
Love your experiments Mr. Tesla
Should of stayed with original BMW bolts.
Good to hear your voice and see your bike again. Hope your ankle is ok. I need to get back in the dirt. I have been getting some low speed balance practice coming home from work from Destin, especially on Friday nights . . . traffic sucks.
Good seeing by your mug pop up in the comments Mike. Those low speed balance practice sessions will pay off in the dirt. And yep, the traffic is not getting any better. Ankle = not so great. Couldn't walk on it when I first got up this morning. But it'll get better. We (you, me, Jim, & Bobby) need to get together for a Blackwater or a street ride again sometime soon.
Ankle is a lot better today - 2nd day after the fall.
Miss you brother
Miss you too bro. If I had gotten out earlier, I was thinking about doing a surprise drive by.
