I am Marian Parsons (aka Miss Mustard Seed) - paint enthusiast, writer, photographer, designer, artist, and author of the book Feels Like Home (Sept 2021.)
This channel shows a progression of my business from my early years of painting and refinishing furniture and dealing antiques to my current passions of art, painting, and design. I just love all things creative and I love encouraging and inspiring other to discover and use their creative gifts.
In my videos, you'll find tutorials on painting & refinishing furniture, upholstering, making slipcovers, using milk paint, decorating, oil painting, and more. I am planning to add more videos on art supplies, design/decorating/art book reviews, art tutorials, and more.

Love it!!🌿🌸🕊️
I love it and I absolutely love german glass glitter! I don’t think there’s anything that it doesn’t make a little more wonderful ☺️🌿🕊️
I love this… They were so pretty and it was also so relaxing to watch and to listen to your voice, which is calming and centering. 🌿🕊️
Such a beautiful color I love all of the shades you created they are gorgeous!
You are reading your pattern left to right. Normally, you read right to left. Is this because of where the thumb is? In other words, for the 2nd mitten, will you work right to left? I’m so confused, did 8 word that correctly? Reading left to right is really throwing me off.
Very cute. Thank you!
How I needed this! ❤
Thanks! I didn’t know that such remnants had to be removed. What would happen if they were left on the bricks?
Nothing will happen. It just doesn't look very good especially if the staining really shows on the brick, which it did in our case.
@@missmustardseed Thanks!
First!
This is amazing, thank you for doing this! 🙏🏻👏
Some of these photos remind me of your oil studies.
Thanks for this website!
This is wonderful, and your future plans sound very exciting. Thank you very much for creating and sharing this valuable resource.❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is exactly what I need. You taught me to paint Marian, though we've never met, and now you've reignited my passion.
I'm so glad to hear that!
Thank you! This is a great idea. Do you mind sharing which company you used for your website?
My assistant who does my design and tech work built it. We use Wordpress.
@@missmustardseed thank you! Wordpress scares me lol maybe I’ll try again I appreciate you answering
Thank you soooo much!! ❤
Thanks so much Marian! I just shared this link to my FB watercolor group, I’m sure they’ll love it! The site looks fantastic!!! ❤
Thank you for sharing!
Hello I'm new to your channel. Elizabeth's Old Maple Home was speaking of your inspiring content. God Bless you ❤
What about the front how do you avoid the staples showing?
I love this so much! Will acrylic paint work too? Your painting is so pretty!
What do you use to mix that Bice color?
What a fantastic demo! This is going to help me tremendously If I may, what is your current palette you like to use?
Where Can I find the reference photo for this demo please?
Looking for your entire list of colors you always use on your palette? Thanks,😊
I wish you had centered the video better,so I could see you actual crocheting.
I see a lot of nitpicky comments and requests for someone not receiving any compensation to share her skills! This video series is so well done. I’m amazed how much effort was put into editing and getting the volume and lighting right. I’m making covers with a simpler technique and thrifted white quilts, but still loved these tutorials and will save them for the future. Thanks so much!
Thanks. Only, how to go when there is only a frame, and this is wavy... I have already spoilt the first try, very difficult.
Hello, thank you for this video, i actually gave it a go and love the results 😊. I am not an artist though and i would love to show you what i have so far and maybe get some recommendations??? Thank you in advance ☺️
Great job! Very informative. Thanks. Post your address and I’ll send you a couple sheets of sandpaper so you don’t have to use orbital sander pads.
I have a painted wicker chair that needs stripping of chalk paint and repainting. Could you give me any ideas on how to go about this and what to use. Have looked on line but could only find painting tutorials. Just found your channel through Amanda's Mercantile.
Ocean’ oil painters
How stain resistant is hemp? My kids are messy?
How did you get the ends seamless? It didn’t show that at the end. I just saw you trimming.
Thank You 😊👍👍 Going to cover a lamp shade today THANK YOU !!
Really enjoyed this lovely tutorial and can’t wait to paint it!! Many thanks
Thank you for your video! It’s been a while since I made mitts and couldn’t remember how to read the chart of the second mitt. From right to left or left to right! And you answered that! I searched a lot of videos and no one said! Again, thank you! You speak slow and clear also!
Does anyone know who the pianist is and what the name of the pieces are?
I love your tracing trick! It’s very useful for beginners or people who aren’t confident at drawing.
Great tutorial thanx!!❤❤❤
Oooor you could slap that lil beauty in a frame and sell it in a heartbeat!! So pretty. ❤
Thank you very much🌼
Your style is so soft and peaceful!
I paint in watercolours so underpaintings aren’t as important as in oils. But what would happen if you do not create an underpainting? How would that affect the outcome?
4:10 The cat is sunbathing 😂😻
This video is well intentioned, but has several issues. One, there wasn't enough emphasis on how incredibly small of a hook and yarn was used, so anyone trying this needs to have a specific size or it will turn out too big. Two the magic circle was done incorrectly (also why there was knots in it). Three, the pattern of increases was incorrect as well, specifically on row 2.
I just thrifted a beautiful wood sideboard. Its very orange. Can I use white wax to lighten it? I dont want to strip it or paint it. Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Please keep these coming! I’m working my way through all your painting tutorials and your instruction on how you mix the colors is so helpful to learn how to become confident to take on something by myself. Thank you❤️
Thanks so much for sharing with us. Wonderful information . Lovely little painting!!
What a blessing you are to us for sharing your knowledge and talent! Thank you so much😊 As a beginner this has really helped me
I loved watching you paint the fruit, mixing color and show how you paint loose. Am I being rude to ask you to lower the volume of the music. It was a little difficult to hear you speak. Thank you again for this demo.😀
