Fly Fishing and Duck hunting are my two biggest passions. I want to create videos to share my experiences with everyone. Whether that’s fly fishing for wild trout in small mountain streams, shooting mallards in the timber, or chasing spring gobblers. Hope you enjoy the adventures along with me!

When you run into a shallow section, try swapping the top nymph to a dry fly for a quick dry-drop setup. You can drift into some fun surprise takes!
@@StaySaneFishing that’s a great idea, thanks for the tip and for watching!
nice video, was this above i20 bridge?
@@av_100series thanks for watching! And no this is further north
Nice one thanks
@@chili1593 thanks for watching!
Damn that’s beautiful
@@KNIPSLOT96yea truly amazing how pretty these can be!
why such thin thread? I always break it when I use it that thin.
@@jsc230 great question! I’ve recently fell in love with semperfli’s nano silk and been using the 30d size on all of my nymphs. I really love the slim profile and that it doesn’t build any bulk on the fly. Also, this particular thread is very strong I would classify its strength between UTC 70 and UTC 40. Occasionally I will break the thread but usually its because I knicked it somehow or if I go to crazy spinning a dubbing loop. The semperfli nano silk in the 50d is also a great median that doesn’t build bulk and is stronger. If you have not used this style and size of thread, I would recommend starting with the 50d and work your way down.
@@CarlileFlynFowl is it a gsp thread?
@@jsc230 yes it is which is why it is super strong. Semperfli calls their “gsp” line of thread nano silk
Hey brother awesome video and caught some really nice fish in it but got some things to point out. If the place your fishing is right beside the road and obvious maybe don’t be so as someone else said “JackLegged” about it. If I have a spot that I really know I’m one of the few if not only one that knows I keep it to myself. But if the place I got to is well known and fishing good and someone says “hey where’d you go” I tell them because letting that person know isn’t going to hurt anything because every other Tom Dick and Harry knows. You get what I’m saying.
@@rabbitholeresident6490 thanks for watching! And yes I definitely get your though process and would be happy to tell anyone these spots in direct messaging. Spot burning is one of those tricky things so I think it’s best to not post it publicly or use it as a “marketing” tool to get people to watch the videos. A place like this particular stream, not against telling people where it is but I’m not going to do it in the comments or video to promote it. Hope that makes sense. I appreciate your comment and grateful you took the time to watch the video. Tight lines my man!
Awesome video man!

@@waynegraff3942 I disagree. Who do you think invented it?

It's nice to see I'm not alone in fishing the higher sections of those creeks. You've got some good videos. Keep it up!
@@doinstuffwithzane love these streams in my back yard! Thanks for watching!
Those brookies are pretty rare in that creek.
@@doinstuffwithzane definitely rare as it’s not conducive for native/wild brookies. This one I believe was a holdover stocked brookie. Several years ago they stocked a ton of them in this particular creek
@@CarlileFlynFowl I recently caught one in that area and it surprised the hell out of me.
Is there a reason that you did not color the wing case?
@@andyk914 great question! I will on some of my nymphs but to be honest, I have never seen a difference in how they fish between one with a colored black wing case and one that is not. What’s your experience been with or without the colored wing case? Thanks for watching!
@@CarlileFlynFowl actually I only tie black wing cases with black UV epoxy, so I have nothing to compare it with.
@@andyk914 tie some up without the black uv resin and fish them both and see which one does the best and let me know!
Nice catches

You near about tossed her in on that cast! 😂This is awesome man!
@@matthewlmurdoch sink or swim am I right?! 🤣
Nice fly but not a tag nymph as it has no tag. A tag would have typically 3/4 strands of Globrite floss or similar instead of the CDL tail
@@gnomestudent you are correct about the tag tail; however in this case, it is a “tag” dropper on a euronymphing system
Ok I see what you mean, in Europe we just call them droppers, nice nymph anyways!
@@gnomestudent thanks!
wow which river is this?
🤫🤫
❤❤❤❤
Nice.
Ive got my bucket list of Fish to catch . I was able to cross off Artic Grayling now all that is left is Muskie, or Tiger Muskie, and the infamous Dolly Varden Trout....the Holy Grail of Trout.
That’s so cool man congratulations! And good luck! The fish of 10,000 casts but I’m sure you will connect on one soon!
good luck on getting a trout. i can give you some tips, cuz after 30 years of fishing for trout, pike, salmon, rainbow trout and all finland has to offer, i'm sure i could help at least a bit

HAMMAR!
Hell yeah! Good looking fish!
Wow 🐟
That is a match for what I saw emerging this past weekend. Little sulfurs all over the river
Tie this thing up in all different colors and it would cover just about anything you’d see on the river!
Purple never works 😂
🤣🤣
That gill plate though
Right!
That’s it I’m going this weekend
Videos or it didn’t happen!!
I believe that's a rainbow trout. He's beautiful 😊
You may be fishing too heavy of flies. Getting most of your takes on the tag/dropper is likely an indication that your point fly is plummeting to the bottom too quickly (below a trout's feeding line) while the tag is drifting in a more appropriate feeding depth. A lot of anglers, including me, start euronymphing thinking that we need to get the flies to the bottom fast, but more often then not, that is less productive. Devin Olsen explains it well in his video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eJqnyq6aZLG_lps.htmlsi=j3JwrsVt9tUULQOr You don't want your flies to hit bottom before it gets to your target, and it's good to take a shallow-to-deep approach. A single 2.3mm bead fly may have been enough. Or, if you want to use two flies, try downsizing to two 2.0mm bead flies. Good luck and tight lines!
Thanks for the advice! This was my 4th trip tightline nymphing so the learning curve has been crazy. I appreciate you watching and giving advice! Tight lines!
Looks like a hike to get back there
Fortunately this wasn’t the worst hike I had 😂
@CarlileFlynFowl excellent! Wifey and I must have just missed you... Quick question, think you'd be interested in some "unconventional fly fishing"?
Thanks for watching! What kind of “unconventional fly fishing”? lol
@@CarlileFlynFowl tightline nymphing but with salmon eggs, night crawlers, crickets.
@@Artisanwoodworks73 not sure I’d be interested in the bait aspect of that. Part of what makes fly fishing fun for me is tying flies to imitate food forms for the trout. I have nothing against bait fishing as I started out that way as a kid but I have grown to really enjoy the artificial side of fishing with hand tied flies!
More videos of oak pls.

Yeah coming from someone who’s from the mountains and a Avid Fly Fisher I don’t think I’d do the “Hush Hush” emoji to people in the comments when the place is right beside the road .
Nice video! I too just started euronymphing for the first time a month ago from exclusively dry dropping. I was fishing with a dry dropped in winter didn't get a single bite and witnessed a euro nympher next to me land 3 fish in 10 minutes. Are these wild trout?
I always swore I wouldn’t get into it but here I am for similar reasons haha there were a few trout that were holdovers but mostly these had been stocked at some point. I appreciate you watching!
You don’t realize how important the bead color is it looks amazing
You’re absolutely right, the bead color can definitely make or break the fly in my opinion. Thanks for the kind words!
