Always loved Ian's tone and playing, I mean the guitar solo in "It's Time' just amazing, still unsure how he did that. Ian usually plays 'for the song' is very melodic but can shred when needed, yet most of his solos give me shivers he plays with amazing feeling! Followed Saga from the first album.

I have seen Saga only twice and thirty something years apart. They were just as good the second time and Jim's keyboard solo was absolutely amazing

I've met Saga members Steve Negus and Jim Gilmour a few times both totally down to earth guys for such brilliant musicians. Absolutely one of Canada's 'Premiere' bands! Great interview friend.👍

As an unknown composer myself this is just great! Jim is one of my fave keyboardists of all time and what can you say about the brilliance of SAGA that hasn't already been said? Subbed to your channel mate, great interview with Mr Negus!

I met Steve 4 times with Saga and for his last show with them in Hamilton at his leaving party' of which Jim Crichton and Jim Gilmour where there. I met him in 1987 when my band opened for Lee Aaron and Steve and Jim Gilmour were filling in for the band. Steve was always a very humble and friendly guy.

Fantastic conversation, thanks to both of you, very inspiring. Following the remark of the "underratedness" of the band, if I am not completely mistaken, their first album involved the use of polyphonic synthesizers although they did not widely exist yet or were not quite affordable. I think I remember Jim Crichton having said at some point that they recorded all polyphonic synth parts track by track with monophonic synths. So also in that particular domain: pioneers. I bow down to the artistic achievements of this band.

I was in my tiny town ( lovington, N. M. ), and 14 y.o., when I first saw ( waiting for the big one), all over MTV! I immediately got the cassete! That album is so good and rocking! They deserved so much better! In 92, I, too moved to Albuquerque, but Lorraine, had long left for los Angeles, amd grunge was taling over!😢! Love Lorraine lewis, and vixen, ❤! Amd lita! And fiona! Saraya! Amazing female rrockers!

I stumbled onto Saga with the their Worlds Apart. It seemed after the two albums they fell of the radar here in L.A. late 80's (at least for me)... then in 2000 trying to rebuild my music collection after losing all of my music I came to find they never stopped making albums though I hadn't kept up. Well, in the early 2000's I bought every thing they did and loved everything right up to Marathon. That album and others since I haven't enjoyed as much. I have always loved Steve's drumming... simply amazing!!! I am now looking forward to his new album as well as previous ones that I was unaware of. As far as this interview... you asked all the right questions, gave plenty of time for answers that I found very enlightening. Now I'm searching for MORE of you vid's!!! Thanks for doing Saga stuff as they are one of my favorites and to have some background has been really good to hear. Keep up the GREAT job!!!!!!!!!!!!

SAGA is your band , then you must like the band RUSH , 2 Prog Rock bands that made it big world wide, unfortunately allot didn't get SAGA in N. America and it took them to go to Europe were they were monumental in the music scene. SAGA Behavior album ,,, one of my all time Favs.

  • @sonicdorms

Oh, absolutely. I'm a major RUSH fanatic as well. SAGA's my #1 though, and I think their criminally underrated place in the world of music has only made me appreciate them even. "Behaviour" is outstanding! The songs & production by Peter Walsh are sublime.

So many videos on the internet recorded by phones that DON'T sound like shit. So, Don is incorrect with that statement. Also: he already wrote a song about gypsies. It was called Cry Of The Gypsy and it was on the Back For The Attack album. George's solo on that song is KILLER!
