I always inform people that I am visually impaired rather than saying legally blind because some people don't understand that legally blind is a spectrum. It's not just totally blind and then it's awkward. For the ones who really don't understand what visually impaired means. I tell them my eyes don't work so good.

I have autism as well. So it's kind of a double whammy because if somebody is waving at me. I will completely ignore them. Not just because I have trouble seeing them but also because I assume they are not waving at me unless they yell my name.

have no idea how i got here but i feel like if the skirt sticks you then the top should be puffier. idk it just feels so much more balanced. try a loose blouse and belt and try to see how it sits w you. you look stunning regardless tho <33

@@samholborn Heh there! Firstly, thank you for all your kind words! I do have enough vision that I’m able to read the text on my phone most of the time if there’s a large font setting. I probably look a little crazy with how close I get to my phone, but it works. If that ever stopped working for me, I’d probably transition to using a screen reading program of some sort to read comments. Thanks again! 🫶🏻

Luckily, my disability (other than being incredibly ugly) is both invisible (neurological) and typically a recognized asset in my field (level 1 ASD with resultant 145+ IQ in IT). This young lady has knowledge, experience, intelligence, poise, and empathy …a rare combination, especially now. I’m betting on her future.

@@AJSeguro not really from my perspective but maybe that’s because everything’s always looked the way it does to me. If you saw with my vision temporarily, it might look blurry to you. In one eye I can only see light, & in the other I have 20/400 vision which means that if you could read a sign at 400 feet away I wouldn’t be able to read the same sign until it was only 20 feet away.

@@BADD1ONE I’m a paralegal, so lots of computer work, scheduling, and document review. I’ve definitely learned over the years that I’m not super comfortable in customer facing rolls. It just gets old being asked if you forgot your glasses all day 🤣.

Legally blind means your eyes do not work so good. That has nothing to do with your ability to eat certain foods. I think you're confusing that with an allergy.

@@AlejandraCastro-iu7sz please do research. Drastically reducing your calories actually makes your body panic and your metabolism slows down to try and help you survive a perceived famine. It ruins your body and can cause liver problems. Calorie restriction isn’t the answer. Talk to your doctor or look into your insulin levels and focus on getting the right nutrients so you have energy to be more active. That way you can lose weight passively while eating enough, and getting the right nutrients

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Baked Oats: Ingredients: 1 extremely ripe banana 1 egg 1/2 cup rolled oats 2 tbsp protein powder (ideally chocolate) 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey 2 tbsp peanut butter 1/2 tsp baking powder Pinch of salt 2 tbsp chocolate chips Directions: Combine all ingredients except the chocolate chips in a blender until smooth. Then stir in half the chocolate chips. Grease a small baking tray, ramekins, or a muffin tray. Fill and top with the remaining chocolate chips. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees F or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. 🫶🏻

Don't know if you've heard of the musician Todd East. He's from the Rochester NY area. Very well know in at least west and central NY. Anyway, he's fully blind and lived next door to me a few years. One day his son (6 or 7 at the time) was walking him around the yard when he jerked him and said this way. Well, the jerk caused him to step in a fresh still warm dog crap, without shoes. He said he was so pissed he wanted to belt the boy but at the same time it was so funny all he could do was laugh his ass off.

I am like you! I am legally blind, but not blind enough for most people to know by looking at me that I’m blind and can’t really see their faces very well. I have good night vision and peripheral vision, but my central vision is gone. So, When I walk up to somebody, I often can’t tell if I’ve ever met them before. Unfortunately, I end up feeling part of neither group, either the cited or the blind.
