Thank you for this wonderful video! A couple of suggestions worth visiting in my view - forgive me if you’ve previously done any videos there: St. Andrew’s, Nether Wallop, Hants - it has some wonderful medieval paintings as well All Saints, Hursley - burial place of Richard Cromwell As a historian, I love seeing all the unique treasures of our country’s churches. So beautiful and really connects me with my past as an Anglican and now a Catholic! Keep up the great work!
Amazing how one man created so much in his lifetime...then along came a man called Henry.
It’s awful Chris - so little left of any Gilbertine houses.
@@allanbarton indeed it is.
Hello Allan have you seen the start of the state banquet. King Charles has started a family order the Queen was wearing it today it’s a nice colour he has picked for it. And the Queen also gave the Burmese Ruby tiara another outing. Hope you are good and looking forward to your next video.
Yes, just seen the news. It is very splendid - I may have to post a quick video about it tomorrow.
Was he buried in the church?
He was buried in the church of the priory he constructed in the next field. Nothing remains!
There's a loft over the rude screen!
Look at all those books!
The protestant reformation and its concequences
Your life STORY..? M????????.
I live in North Norfolk. ❤❤
So pleased to see inside, pretty place so peaceful. Its really good to know everything is together again. May she be resting in peace ❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Full of stolen diamonds. The hope diamond belongs to South Africa
Beautiful carving
Thank you for explaining these images.
Lovely that the shrine’s scattered bits were reconstructed
Love your videos
Such a pretty place. Thank you for showing this little church.
Sir, you may not agree, but, the 1998 biography of Elizabeth I, written by Alison Weir, in its last chapter, details the final months, then days, of her life.😮😮😮😮
It's interesting that there wasn't a London version of the Paris Catacombs. Paris had the same problem with growing and the Paris churchyards and cemetaries had, also, run out of room. I can't remember who came up with the idea of using the old underground quarries, but, that's how the Paris Catacombs were started.😮😮😮😮
I’m looking at all the stuff that you’re carrying around Charles and Gandolf has nothing on you. : )
Hey, what’s with the big cereal bowl spoon is that for your Captain Crunch? : )
Change the next crayon, so it has a head strap like on a baseball cap so it fits different heads. : )
It really is cool to see the detailed artistry put into all of this and the maintenance involved which I never thought about.
bollucks to the council
Amazing! Why the creepy music though? 😁
What a lovely place,a Beautiful place to rest. Would love to see her resting place💚
She was the mother of evil. Every catholic rejoiced at her death
Ha! I live quite close and have never even heard of this!!
I like how you pronounce ' rené'. Very allo allo😂
Good moaning to you too.
It's awe inspiring, absolutely. The skill of the gifted artisan who created this crown is amazing. You almost hold your breath looking at it. Thank you for this wonderful detailed video.
Thank you so much 😀
I am so glad you are on utube!
That’s really kind, thank you.
Was the monastery pulled down in the 16c you think? So much lost.
No, it went before the 12th century when the present church was constructed.
Fascinating and beautiful. Thanks.
Are you saying Melangeth?
Yes.
Melangell? The way to pronounce the Welsh ll is to say the letter L as in English but relax the sides of your tongue.
@@melkin3549 thanks for the helpful tip.
@@allanbarton I’d also suggest sort of blowing air past your tongue when it’s in the position to say “L” when you want to make the “Ll” sound. It was a good video, otherwise! I love people exploring Wales and its history. I didn’t mean to sound arsey or anything.
Pronunciation of Welsh digraphs can be tricky for English speakers. Welsh has 7 vowels so the words look confusing but are easy enough once the alphabet is known. As above, I love the videos and great to see some Welsh history.
I think she was associated with hares?
She was - that’s tomorrow’s short.
Lovely valley
Will have to go there
Interesting!!!
Those trees are amazing
Oh woooooow! Amazing story and location that are completely new to me. Thanks for sharing the magic! 🤩
This is technically an Orthodox shrine, so I hope it gets more recognition as such.
It is very much a centre of pilgrimage.
Not really Orthodox, It would have been a Catholic site. I guess it was a pre-schism Latin site, and so by Orthodox reckoning that would be when the Latin Church was still part of the Orthodox fold. But the Latin Church before and after the schism was the same body as it was before, wether or not it was still part of the true Church is a subjective theological judgement.
@@davidcope5736 Well, I’m western rite Orthodox.
More Welsh stuff please! 🏴
More incoming.
@@allanbarton have you been to Defynnog? The oldest Yew Tree in Europe stands there.
@@daflondon no I haven’t - I’ll make sure I do! Thank you.
Thank you Allen can't believe I have only just found your channel. I am tudor history lover thank you
Welcome to the channel - there is so much rich Tudor history to explore in my videos.
@@allanbarton thank you so much I'm looking forward to watching them
I'm a massive tudor history buff. I think it's disrespectful that henry as not a beautiful monument. Like he deserves there are minor royalty with a better monument than henry
Well we know now that the queen didn’t have a new one made. The king probably thought it was too costly to make one
Thank you Allan Barton for all of videos as a pensioner I cannot afford to be a patron but I sincerely thank you and love all your work Thank you from Perth Western Australiaxxx I am a descendent of many Royals including John of Gaunt.
That is very much appreciated, thank you for watching.
Very good
I had always wondered as an Australian how the crown could match the previous and next monarchs. Always thought their heads swelled on coronation day like something out of Alice of Wonderland.
Norwich Cathedral is much bigger and 250 years older
Norwich was a wealthy city, Snettisham, a village.
ive visited norfolk alot, found a nice restarant but the rest is a dump, i thinks its suffolks septic tank
Such a delight to watch and enjoy. Thank you Alan.
Glad you enjoyed it
wondering where are the body parts of Sir William Wallace whom he murdered and then cut apart and had the body parts buried in the four directions of where Longshanks was.???
