    Hey Willie, great trip and we're glad Bert showed his stuff . . . just start saving for those tires! Glad you like the Delta ZD2 but think you may need to change that line for sure because that is probably what is causing your retrieval issue. @@mikecarr1378 I agree, it doesn’t break any retrieval speed records, nor did it even say what the gear ratio was on the packaging but it was satisfactory.. I’m going to have to try some smaller top water baits, like torpedos, buzz baits, and the whopper plopper 60 just to see how well they bring them in.. that’ll give me an idea on the gearing.. So, I looked it up while I was replying to you .. it’s 3.4:1 so yes, it’s a bit on the slow side but the new Delta is 3.9:1 so basically about the same. @@Bass_Fishin_Jake Hey there! I’ll start off with this, No campground is “perfect” but for “me” this one is as close as I can get.. Being close by, having more than several places to fish, being able to use a golf cart, makes it as convenient and useful as possible. It has its issues like any other. Not everything is kept on top of as far as the grounds.. like pot holes in the gravel or when they weed eat/cut grass around the lake but it’s a “nice place” to come hang out for a few days, fish, ride around on the golf cart, shout the breeze with some friends, and relax.. it can get noisy on the weekends because that’s when the 60 year olds that think they’re still 25 show up but quiet time is at 11pm and they usually abide by it.. I’m more of a “weekday” camper.. I make my videos during the week so I can get them out on the weekend. When possible. If you would like, I can do a more in-depth video on the campground. If you would like to see it, or if you’re local. Just let me know.

We’re all out there doing the same thing, trying to catch a fish For ourselves.. Back in the mid 80s. These little guys were the king of the trout streams. I remember seeing them at the lodge at Montauk trout park in southern Missouri. Back then, the ones made in Japan, were like 75 dollars with the rod. I always wanted one. 75 dollars was a lot of money back when I was 14 years old. To be honest with you. They are still expensive on eBay. Recently I finally found a vintage, new old stock, still in the package, made in Japan Diawa mini spin cast. It is a 4 piece rod and is the exact same style reel you have here. Needless to say I paid a small fortune to get it. 225 dollars to be exact. I loaded it with good old original Stren 4 pound test monofilament. I headed off to a creek near where I live. It was terrible. I spent as much time untangling line from the drag adjusting tip as I did fishing. So I took it home. Removed the line from the reel and reloaded it with 4 pound test braided spiderwire line. I was hoping that since braided line is a bit more stiff than monofilament line that it would not tangle up as bad. Well to make a long story short. It worked well with the spiderwire. However I have noticed that after about 4 short fishing trips the white nylon spool is starting to wear on its edges from the braided line. I’m going to keep using it until it won’t work anymore. I will admit though. I am very disappointed in it. It is a very smooth rod and reel. It is well designed and built. It is a pleasure to fish with. I just don’t see it lasting very long with the braided line on it. I could switch back to monofilament. Then I would have to put up with the tangles that go with it. It’s a shame to because my 35 dollar zebco micro 33 gold setup works great. It is really a nifty little setup. It’s just fun to tangle with a good sized bluegill with an ultralight setup. My cheap zebco ultralight setup works much better than the Diawa and I’ve had it for 3 years and never had to do a thing with it. It just works.

    @@user-fi8rf9un1v Hey there, Though this product will obviously catch fish, I have no idea how long it’ll last. I was catching some pretty good size fish that would give expensive equipment a good workout. I personally think this set up is more for children or people to keep in their car for that “just in case” time that may present itself.. it’s very small and the line that comes on it is very weak.. the reel has a very slow gear ratio and it takes time to reel in a fish. Being so small, there’s not much line on it so if a large enough fish decides to make a run, you’ll run out of line quickly and it’ll most likely snap it.. so I wouldn’t use this as an everyday piece of equipment, not saying that you can’t, but I wouldn’t.. hope that helps..

    Coming from a 06 jeep liberty owner. Check the ball joints closely. I've replaced all of mine. I had one fail while driving. Thankfully I was coming out of a parking lot. Fairly easy vehicle to work on. I've also replaced 2 alternators , battery and ac compressor. Mine has 142,000.

    Can't beat a Mitchell I have a 301 my second, as for the Zebco reel I have them but they are finicky imo I like how they fit palm of my hand .as for the undercast I'd rather use one of my spinning reels.

  • @TheGraytOutdoors
    @TheGraytOutdoors5 күн бұрын

    The 308 and 304 were always my fresh water favorites and the 300 was my saltwater.. They were inexpensive, easy to clean up, and fairly dependable. The occasional weak bail release spring would prematurely release the bail during a cast but you could take it out and bend on it a bit and it would last for a while.. Mitchell definitely has its place in fishing reel history..
