Johnson 100B vs. 45th Anniversary - Battle of the Century's

Ойын-сауық

In this episode, Willie pits the Johnson 45th Anniversary against the 100B, to see if there's any real reasons behind the widespread dislike for the Chinese made 45th Anniversary, and preference for the American made reels.

Morning Willy. Growing up with 202’s we learned that if you hold the reel and keep your forefinger on the hole so no slack line gets into the reel. It solved the problems of internal snags after catching a good fish. Shoot we didn’t get 33’s till we got jobs as teenagers. Enjoy your videos!!!

That’s good information!! Might have to give that a shot in the very near future!! Most of what I used as a growing up had Mitchell stamped on the side and barely costs $8.. and the rest were hand me downs. But I was as happy with them as I was anything else.. it was about catching fish, not “what” caught the fish.. Thanks so much for watching!! Willie

Great video, Willie, good to see you get some nice weather at the camp site, and a chance to field test the two reels! Take care and be safe!

Hey CJ, Good weather appears to be a little much to ask for in our neck of the woods these days.. but regardless I got just enough to catch a few and let those reels do their thing.

Hi Willie, it was great to see you compare these two. It sounded like the only real down fall would be trying to get parts for the 45th Anniversary. The 100B US you can get what you need. Personally, I would use either one. If an item works for me, I will use it. I don't care where it's from. I'm not picky. Tell Chris, Evan and Steven Hi. Boo meow. Take care and stay safe till next time. ❤❤❤❤❤

Howdy Skye🤠, Just about Everything these days is made somewhere else. The 45th Anniversary seems to be a decent reel other than having to find parts.. but they’re out there, it would only take a little looking to get what you need. If I can do it, anyone can😂. Thanks for watching Skye, Everyone says Hi Skye and Meow🐈‍⬛..

Next time we talk I may have a couple ideas about why the pickup pin prematurely pops up during a cast.

I’m wondering if they’re just sticking out slightly too far.. because they don’t do it “all the time”…

Quite the honey hole you have there. I'm surprised the fish didn't just hop up on the bank for you! 😂😂

I like Trout Magnet SOS mono on my spinning reels (strong line and reduced stretch IMHO). For me, I have found Trilene XL works better with the Johnson 100B. So far, my Zebco spin cast reels don't seem overly fussy about the brand of line I use. Looks like it's time to start throwing some hula poppers🎣. Andy

Line is one of those conversations that could go on forever. I’ve used many different versions and they all have their little differences. I love SOS and use it on many of my reels but I’ve had tangle problems with it on rare occasions. Mr. Crappie is the only line I ever had a “bad roll” of, that literally would snap on hook sets. Trilene XL was my go-to for a very long time and I’ll still use it but mostly for leaders. Stren, not a fan, never really have been. I’ll use Suffix but it tends to have a little more “stretch” so casts seem great but hook sets can be tricky.. Again, it’s all a personal thing for the fisherman.. you have to try a few to figure it out.. and even then, you’ll change your mind on occasions. lol

I love the “oops” colors.. mainly because they’re only $1.80 for 15🤠.. I can make a list that’s for sure.. it may be exactly what everyone expects but since you asked, I can give that a shot very soon. I have a “random episode” coming up, might add a “subscriber questions” section at the end.. 😉

@@TheGraytOutdoors sweet! with your knowledge on all these reels, the ins and outs and what makes them run, would be a great insight on a tier list. Especially which to look for, on eBay or an estate sale or what have you. sherbet looked great too!
