  Like girls, as they say, some girls are bigger than others. Blades have a range of widths. Some are wider than the standard and some are narrower.

  @@TheDeaconShaves One of the widest is Kai. One of the narrowest BIC. The "standard" allows for a range between 21.90mm to 22.04 mm, BUT the Kai is even wider. One of the forums, B&B, has some measured data.

  Oh man Belton lake. I grew up my early years on that lake. Lived in Temple up until 1980. Still have family there. That is a HUGE tub of cream! the scent smells right up my alley. Great shave sir! Dome shave with a DE, I was timid as well, But now I love it.

  I love the L55 and have the version with both the CC and OC base plates. The OC is amazing with milder blades and gives me a near BBS with only two passes.

  @@TheDeaconShaves I absolutely love it. Gives me a close, almost BBS shave with the Willys or Gillette Winner blades with just 2 passes. For 3 passes, I use it with the Gillette Wilkinson Sword Indian blades and it gives me a 99% BBS shave with no cuts and very little irritation.

  Hi Eugene, I think that Barbus is great stuff. One of my favorites. I have not tried anything from Pearl yet. I may go for the Pearl Flexi Open Comb. Just need to make some more room in the den! Best regards, Glenn

  Hey Glenn, I agree, Barbus is a go to for me when trying a new razor most of the time. Very reliable when it comes to the lather. Just add a shelf somewhere :) LOL !!! Have a great day and smooth shaves

  Nice shave Eugene! I have yet to try a Pearl razor. I do like that they are more aggressive. Sounds like they may be similar to Parker razors.

  Hey Gene! That's a cool story about Sinatra and Tony Orlando. I'm a big Sinatra fan and I've never heard that story before. Sinatra is one of the first people I think of when people say they don't get good shaves from vintage razors. Look at Sinatra, early Sean Connery, Elvis, and look at pictures of all your relatives from WWII to the early 60s. That's the time when there were more men shaving every day than any other time in history. I don't understand how you can look at that era and say that you can't get a good shave with what they were using.
