Consider buying me a hooker instead!!!! It's a better deal too!! She could service more than one of us at a time, saving 3 minutes per "train"!! And we'd get much better mileage from a hooker than from a tire "cage". Just ask ur mom!! We ran a train on her every night for the last 2 weeks!!!! And she held up pretty damn good!!!!
Save a WHOLE 3 MINUTES PER VEHICLE!!!!???? HOW COUKD I LIVE WITHOUT GETTING THEM WHOLE 3 MINUTES BACK??!! THATS GONNA SHIT MY GARAGE DOWN AFTER 1 VEHICLE!!!!
Che potenza di esplosione!! Spaventoso!
The best of the best !
I use to do this years ago, glad i quit. Use to try
las he visto mas sencillas y mas faciles de usar mas practicas y mas rapidas de instalar las piezas a reemplazar.
So what happens when the tyre fails while being refitted?
Compressed gas , a wonderful servant, a horrible master , and you want hydrogen powered automobiles on the public roadways ?
Worked in a service station as a teenager in the late 1960's and fixed a hundred flats on cars and trucks. No one told us about the dangers that working with tires were. Don't think the owner knew either. Fixed 'em all though at $1.00 an hour pay.
Thats how to stop the psycho in "no country for old men"

At what was pressure did it fail?
What’s even more dangerous then the sudden release of air when airing up a truck tire is the ring rims not used much today , thank goodness , they have been know to severe limbs and almost decapitate the poor soul airing up the tire , most accidents happen as a result of poor training , the tire companies pay very little and therefore get under qualified personal , for the most part it’s the tire changing company that is at fault , because they want profit more then safety , I’ve watched many of these young men risking their lives because their not properly trained , the employer should be held accountable in most cases
The most important thing u can do is stay back from the tire stand of to the side away from the possible explosion area
Thanks very helpful
Normal car tyres? Or just truck tyres?
I like how there's a list of most common fails, and the last item on the list is "sudden release of air" which is literally what the rest of them are

thats slow motion, not real time
i would have thought liver failure, most common in tire shop😮
I met a reconstructive surgeon who told me about a tow truck driver who had a semi tire explode in his face. He didn't use a cage...so the surgeon stood over his face reconstructing it for 17 hours straight... no break or stopping... reconnecting bone and tissue... It gives me chills down my spine to think of it...awefull injury... BE A SAFETY NERD>>> KNOW AND APPLY ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES!!!!!!
Looks like the cages are only good for one explosion.
Short and to the point. Tire explosions can happen to any tire tech. This is well worth viewing.
What about pressure vessels, ie, compressor tanks
It is safer to use a cage, however you have to replace the cage every time. As well if you notice they're using all old tires
Replacing a cage is cheaper than a huge insurance payout, and easier than telling a wife and kids that their daddy was killed at work.
Ive done commercial truck tires as one of the services we offered in our shop. No formal training just here do it. Finally bought a cage after numerous bad tires peop,e wanted patched we had one explode in cage and just the force of the explosion about took a bay door out. Cage went out into parking lot at same time. For all you newbies be careful and dont hurry. You are the most important part of any job and no dollar is worth your life. Im 56 and have 35yrs experience with all sorts of equipment repair. Be safe guys.
My Dad ran a tire shop for 30 years. During that time one of his guys lost two fingers when a truck tire exploded due to an improperly seated split rim. After that they always used a cage. They never had another split rim failure but did have a couple of tires explode. Thank goodness for the cage!
Only tires with no holes will do that. Which means it’s obviously filled too much. Or else it would blow out at the hole
First three shots were split rim truck tires.. if the two pieces aren't locked together properly, yes they can easily take your life, thats why they're not even legal for highway use since at least 1980. A coworker of my father's got blasted through an overhead garage door by inflating an improperly assembled split rim truck tire. ALL modern commercial highway tires are now 1 piece rims and tubeless tires. So this would have to be limited to agriculture, and some specialty construction equipment.. yes ALL split type rims are extremely dangerous to mount and dismount
Your statement is completely false. There are NO split rims that are banned from highway use. There is one style of split rims that is illegal to "repair" but not illegal to use on thr highway. That means owners can run those tires out, but when they need to be replaced they will also have to replace the rims with the legal style rim. The illegal style split rim was made by Kelsey-Hayes and uses by many truck manufacturers, but mostly GM. Kelsey-Hayes rims split in the middle and were hard to verify that they were properly assembled. Normal split rims with 1 or 2 piece rings are still perfectly legal to use on the highway and repair. Check out the semi trailer chassis that haul shipping containers sometime. Most of those use split rims. The benefit there is that they use an inner tube so they're less likely to leak down and go flat while sitting in shipping yards long term.
Awesome video..l drove tour buses..and worked in the shop..our tries we always caged..until now never realized how powerful a tire explosion can be..
@branickindustries - do you have any videos of a tire exploding on a table with the rim clamps engaged? When I worked in my father's garage, that was all we used. Wondering now how much I was playing with fire.
All it takes is one time. Just once...
Everybody is talking about the dangers of split rims and that’s true they can be a real disaster. But the thing is normal car tires can also be a serious problem if they zipper. Friend who owned a garage has a bum arm for life due to a zipper failure of a car tire. Not a rim issue but the tire itself. This was a major brand tire and they paid out heavily. Cages are good for everything. Well worth the time for me. Use a remote fill also so you are away from it.
or just a inflate on the table with a modular hinged saftey cage so you can do the work unimpeaded by time constraints and still maintain moderate level of saftey at least if paying attention and doing job right not just leaving it to go on a drug break Coffee/ciggarettes/alcohol/hard drugs like sugar 😂 ... but really ain't no reason to die or loose productivity you can automate your way out of it with pressure relief valves pressure switches and inspections of tire quality as well as pre stretching tire with fill empty fill empty fill hold pressure no leaks soapy water 🌊💦 test I'd have it all run through manifolds from central compressor as well as as multiple backup compressors but the saftey being manifold side though compressors come with their own saftey I'd have pressure gauges built into every outlet as well as attachment points at least 1 300/200psi pressure relief valve to rule them all though you could buy one for the specific tire pressure somewhere between 30 40 and 55 psi though many are different there are standards and install pairs as a failsafe with 1/4 turn off valves anywhere it could be useful to isolate system ... really biggest problem is jobstress exhaustion and therefore user error that isn't backed up by enough common sense to watch what they're doing depending only on a robot to do it for them though secondary robot saftey backups in addition to actual knowledge is a great combo
1 im not sure how ading a step saves time and 2 tire failure that bad shouldnt happen when filling a tire with air unless you are really over inflateing the tire
To bad so many shops are to cheap to buy one.
If you are really concerned you can always side the tire under a vehicle. I'm 64 years old but when I was in my early twenties I was a tire man on the third shift in a major truckstop Pa. doing service calls on the turnpike all night and I'd slide the tire under the vehicle I was working on to inflate. That trick was taught too me by the guy that trained me to repair truck tires and it really does work. It makes the job harder and takes a little longer but what's a life worth... especially if it's your own. lol
@@hotrodrebel855Good point and advice, use the truck as the cage. I don't change tires at all but if I have to inflate one I will put it under.
@hotrodrebel855 I was taught in the mid 1990's to wrap a heavy chain around it in 3 or 4 spots when we did split rims. Eventually we did buy a cage.
@@johneckert1365That's a good idea.
That's just air pressure, think what Hydraulics could do! And for goodness sake don't forget to bolt that thing to the floor!!
Air pressure is way more dangerous than hydraulics. Air compresses and holds a large amount of stored energy. Fluids do not compress and cannot store energy. Yes, fluids can transfer energy, better that gasses (air), but they don't store energy. Stored energy is basically a bomb. Some hydraulic systems have accumulators, they are a storage device. Hydraulic pressure compresses a spring, or compresses gas chamber, so it can store some hydraulic pressure. An example is a hydraulic brake system in some tractors. With an accumulator, you still have a few emergency brake applications left if the engine happens to stall. The hydraulic oil is NOT storing the energy, the mechanical spring or compressed gas in the accumulator is storing the energy. The hydraulic oil only transfers that energy.
This danger is specific to split rim wheels, correct?
No, any tire can fail
Unfortunately we have to train this soy generation in common sense.
Fing liar. Safety 3rd!!!
Don't Panic...Get Branick
Split rims
I had a tractor tire blow on me once, hit me full on in the chest, I couldn't smoke for a week. Well, I couldn't smoke marlboros, anyway. I had to switch to virginia slims. Frickin embarrassing.
ITS A FAKE WATCH THE FIRST FANTOM SHOT. THE RIM FOR THAT TIRE IS A 3 PIECE RIM . THE MAIN WHEEL THE OUTER SET RING AND AN INNER LOCK RING WITH A RUBBER O-RING TO SEAL THE TIRE TO THE OUTER RING. IN THE SLOW MOTION VIDEO YOU CAN PLAINLY SEE THERES NO INNER LOCK RING!!!!! FAKE FAKE FAKE
At a shop just down the road from me a few months ago, a man died when a tire exploded and in the process it ripped off the mans face. He was conscious and in obvious agony for a while. But he succumbed to his injuries. Scary stuff.
I had a friend die from a split rim exploding in his face. Cages were not required back then.
In 2010 alone there were too many deaths from tire explosions. Can’t argue with detailed statistics like that
Oh i thought all the workers were supposed to get inside the cage
Thay offer more than six cage models. I'm thinking seven ?
