Its not because they can not, it's because an actor is supposed to be specifically discounting themselves in a roll to play and transform into someone else. When you show your true self online or on the steps of a new york building screaming like a lunatic in public and cameras you destroy the blank canvas and now inset yourself into ALL future rolls. The fans then can only see you as you and for that. Case in point, Daniel Day lewis, why is so amazing? He almost never did interviews and had ZERO social media. So when he played a roll, you almost did not recognize him as the same human. We only now watch the person he is portraying with no pre conceived notions or feelings towards him. Electrician's and plumber's don't have to be anything other than that. BECAUSE that is their job.
