    I have the silver burst version, it’s really good. Pickups are a little colder than I’d like but they sound good, a lot of the things I don’t like are personal preference (fretboard too flat, neck too thin) and my A tuner is still sticky even after a year of having it.

    I bought the same one but at the headstock says “made in china”. Is it fake ? But the sound is good tho

    You are absolutely correct. Jazzmaster p/u s are not like Strat, nor Tele single coils, which have a "taller" profile. They are also NOT humbucking p/u s, which have two coils of wire. Jazzmaster p/u s are their own animal. They are single coil p/u s that are wound on a spool that is "shorter" and "wider" than a common "Fender style" single coil p/u. The Jazzmaster p/u tone is "warmer" than a standard single coil p/u and "sweeter" than a humbucker, which in comparison to a single coil, may sound dull.

    Haunted nights for halcyon days Can't sleep to the scraping of his voice Nature's way struck grief in me And I became a ghost in sickness Willingly guided into heresy Beneath the surface, stark emptiness And you'd pity my conviction Whereas I thought of myself as a leader You'd cling to your pleasant hope It is twisted fascination While I'd ruin the obstacles into despair And I'm praising death Lost love of the heart In a holocaust scene memory Decrepit body wearing transparent skin Inside the smoke of failure Wept for solace and submit to faith In his shadow I'm choking Yet flourishing Master A delusion made me stronger Yet I'm draped in pale withering flesh I sacrificed more than I had And left my woes beneath the mire

    Yeah dude honestly, I love them. The wasn't anything inherently wrong with the stock pickups but these are just a little fresher to me with the nice addition of being able to split the coils. I think it was an amazing improvement!

    I love every album ETiD has put out, but Gutter has some of the funnest riffs. Kill the Music, Gloom and How it gets that way, The New Black, Tusk and Temper.

  • @geirisk8
    @geirisk814 күн бұрын

    I totally agree! Gutter Phenomenon may have the technically worst production in terms of mix and sound quality but it is it's own thing. I loved it when it came out and I still do. I'm not even sure I would like it any more if they re-recorded it with more of a modern tone (with the likes of the last two records that sound AMAZING). But I agree, the riffs are so fun to play!

    Top tip: if you grind down the saddle to lower the action and go a little too far, you can put a little "shim" under the saddle when you replace it. I recommend the very thin hard wood strips used by model ship builders as planks on model sailing ships. Quick, cheap and easy repair. Also, they're so thin you can stack them if necessary to reach perfect action height. Make sure they cover the whole length of the bone or plastic saddle. No glue needed.

  • @geirisk8
    @geirisk814 күн бұрын

    That's actually a really good tip, I didn't think about that but good to know in case I do this in the future with another guitar.

    I have the very same baritone (and the 40th anniversary Jazzmaster btw) and it are no P90 pups, they are specially designed single coils (rather JM-like) Did you notice that the string to string balance is a bit off? All in all: a very nice addition to the tonal palette! Nice playing!

  • @geirisk8
    @geirisk814 күн бұрын

    I have a Hartswood semiacoustic 335 copy. I found that the ceramic pickups were very weak and Muddy and didn’t cut through at all when playing live. I bought a set of Alnico magnetic pickups and it transformed the guitar. The only downside is that it now sounds a bit more single coil but it suits me perfectly and cuts through beautifully when playing live. Also, if you take the tuners off you will notice that they rattle horrendously. At the same time, I purchased some new tuners that Were Identical but without the rattle! Now at tunes and sounds beautiful.

  • @geirisk8
    @geirisk814 күн бұрын

    I think that's quite often the downside to affordable guitars: pickups and tuners. They're often made beautifully with very minor flaws that can be easily remedied. I usually feel the need to change pickups and better tuners definitely improve the guitars!

    Nice review man. Love the Jazzmaster shape, but its too big in my opinion. Ibanez made a Jazzmaster copy at a time with a much smaller body, if you havent checked one of those out yet you definitely must. My one friend owns a Ibanez ORM1, its 22 frets, 24" scale, single bridge pickup and its awesome for me personally compared to the larger Fender shape.

    Nowhere does it say the body is mahogany. Read the specs. The body is Okoume - google it - popular wood for musical instruments. The COLOR of the stain used is Mahogany. Mine is flawless. Pickups made by DiMarzio for Ibanez. THIS guitar will hang with anything you got! LOL

    Thank you for your video!I just got my HB guitar today. I also find the saddle a little bit too high. Maybe i will sand it down about 1mm some day. I guess it is a business strategy to leave the saddle a little bit high rather than manufacture it too low or causing buzzing. That costs time and that would be a deal breaker for buyers. But over all i really like the guitar. It look great, sounds great. I cannot believe it a 300 euro guitar.
