CSODÁLATOS HELY! De el nélkülöztem volna a csúhások vonulását..ezek helyett a PANTHEON szépségeit néztem volna!
2:05 till 4:14 Flying buttresses. The medieval castles, and some select churches, of / in England, were using these, outside the load-bearing wall. Go seek, and find them. Another point, about that large, 5,000 ton dome. The ancient Romans, - masters of stone work. The circular ' steps' on the lower half, of the outside dome , help support its' wieght. Genius designers. Like old Vitruvius stated, in his '' 10 Books on Architecture ''. One, must be studied, in math / art / physics / study of nature / weather IN THE REGION YOUR CONSTRUCTING, to work ' with nature ' ; in alot of areas ; for coolness, for hot times, for water management (much involved) . Modern architectural engineers, do not know, art / music, any of this. Masters of design, those Romans...Kudos to all which built these monstrous , permanent buildings. Thank - you Darius Arya . Any relation, to King Darius, of Persia ? (560 Bc to 486 Bc lived)
Thank you! Spectacular
Why don’t they just rebuilt the whole thing it would be amazing for the whole imperial fora and Roman forum to be rebuilt
Darius, no offense but are you all right? In your latest videos you look visibly tired.
I was watching Rick Steves' Rome episode on PBS. When he showed The Pantheon, he didn't explain what happens when it rains, so I came to KZread to find out. Thanks!
Enjoy your channel. Would love some episodes on what Roman sites are a day drive away from Rome.
What incredible footage of the thunderstorm from inside the Pantheon! That's not something you could ever plan for. Congrats for being in the right place at the right time and taking advantage of the prime filming opportunity. Surprised to learn that the Pantheon wasn't converted to a Christian church untl the 7th century and wonder why it took so long. Perhaps the diminished population in Rome after the fall of the empire had something to do with it? Great video. Thanks Darius!
Acoustics in the Pantheon is awesome. Caught a flash mob choir there.
The popes looted the beautiful buildings of Rome to construct more unnecessary churches.😡😡😠😠
Amazing! It would be a life long dream to see the glory in person.
Thanks for the video ! Very interesting.
Incredible! I have visited it once and it is a dream to come back!😊
Beautiful!

Mille grazie for letting me see what I will probably never be able to experience myself.
Interesting. Would like to see it. Obviously would like to see what's under St. Peters even more.
Fulfilled a 44yr dream was in Rome October 2023. Glad I was able to walk next to the 5 standing stones. Next to Flavian Amphitheater and was able to get great pictures.
Darius? I have never seen you happier! I've watched almost everything you have produced! Rome, Italy, the Mediterranean and now Crete! You look relaxed and smiling more! I thank you for your work and I WISH I could travel and explore as you do. I'm 71 now with the soul of a 17 year old! I had my chance in the mid 1970's and passed on it! Now I regret that! If people have the chance and choice to explore the history of us...do it while you can! I suppose you were named after Darius the Great of Persepolis? You are doing great things Darius! Keep it up! I am Proud of you! Wishing from Montreal 😎
Amazing, I wasn't aware of this action :) On a different note. It's always heartbreaking to see almost everyone filming and watching it through a small display, despite being there. Instead of living the moment, they are busy filming it. The experience is tainted and they have a movie which they will likely only see a couple of times in their lifes.
Daddy's Pantheon is the best <3
Love the Pantheon epic beautiful, imho disgusted grossed out it was converted into a Christian church as this is my first time hearing of this. Suppose it's same way Christians feel about the Hagia Sofia is a mosque now and the Jews abt The Temple Mount Synagogue in Jerusalem called al-Aqsa Mosque. Better than being destroyed demolished left a wreck.
If it wasn't for potential soot damage that would be a great venue for an annual barbecue competition.
So beautiful, grazie.
Vielen Dank,, freue mich sehr wieder mal ein Video von Ihnen zu erhalten,,, 💯♥️🥰🌹👠🔥,, liebe gruesse,, julia.
The rose petals remind me of the annual remembrance day service held in London's Albert Hall. It also has a dome, and during the two minute silence so many, many thousands of poppy petals fall. Each petal represents a serviceman or woman who has lost their life in the line of duty since 1914.
Thank you Doc. Your so lucky to be living in a next door building. It is like dream. Btw/ is there any drawing of the broze ceiling of the portico before it was pulled down and melted?
Interesting Stuff 👍
👏Love and miss Rome, hopefully I'll get back sometime soon. Great Grandfather Studied Art the Académie des beaux-arts de Rome in the 1880's
Lovely!
The petals look amazing coming down. Curious as I am, I'd very much like to see a video with the crew that climbs on top and throws the petals down the oculus!
Is the interior marble original, is it as it was when Hadrian first entered? It is a beautiful building, things don't need to be made of gold to be a treasure.
Always get mixed feelings when you realize all of Rome was that beautiful and because of the pope only thing that remains is the Pantheon.
Yes, they destroyed everything else...
Actually, what destroyed or severely damaged the buildings were earthquakes, and they were later looted by the popes or the people of the city because there was no budget or interest in preserving them. That's why it's so important for them to have a use or a strong connection with their population; it preserves and maintains them over time.

Preserving old buildings is a modern phenomenon because in the past old structures that had passed their use by date and were no longer of a functional nature to the needs of the present were almost always demolished and new structures put up. You have to realize that because of the fall of the western empire and the transference of the capital to Istanbul (Constantinople) the old city of Rome went from being a city of millions to about ten thousand (I believe) at one stage - just think of the logistics of a city of ten thousand trying to maintain buildings that were originally designed for a city of millions! The irony of it all was that buildings that were changed into churches (like the Pantheon) were often the ones to survive. After all the papacy also demolished the old basilica of St Peter's that dated from the Constantinian era in order to build a more modern and imposing structure which is the present St Peter's in the Renaissance style.
Wouldn't it be nice if the gilt bronze rosettes were to be restored to the dome!
Amazing.
Id love to see them perform old pagan rites
Eeew, no! Keep that darkness in the grave.

@@raedwulf61 - It's all mythology anyway, so it's just another flavor of ritual.
Thank you! This was very beautiful and interesting. What a dynamic building! 🤸
Still amazes!!
The "holy spirit" that descends at the beginning can also be translated as the "awful spirit" in the Greek original. It refers to Domitian after the father Vespasian and the son Titus, who originally commissioned the gospels. Domitian was quite a disturbed and bitter character, and his father and brother made sure the Flavians got immortalised in a central piece of Christian ideology not without the typical double entendre.
"Awful" means full of awe or inspiring awe. Its use to mean "very bad" is 19th century slang that unfortunately has stuck and become standard, distorting the meaning of older texts that use it correctly.
110 🙏🏼
I was there a month ago🇬🇷 🇮🇹

What an incredible building. The Pentacost and the suns rays through the Pantheon is stunning. Great video. Thanks Darius.
