6:04 I once confused Color Oops and Color Zap when I was shopping at Sally’s. I was trying to buy a color remover to address previous rounds of Olia Box Dye, but I confused the product names and ended up purchasing some sort of weakened bleach kit. So ya… my first attempt coloring my hair at home was a NIGHTMARE!

After numerous failed rounds of hot roots/bleach/t## toner… I finally accepted defeat & gave up on my bubble gum goop hair. I did the walk of shame towards a stylist chair, & confessed to her what I had done. She was very professional with me, she didn’t scold me- but she was firm & honest with me, which I appreciated. I walked out of there with the CUTEST PIXIE CUT! I had no idea whether I’d be able to pull it off (head shape), but I got so many compliments, even from strangers!

I think I would rock this look asymmetrical cut, but my stylist seems scared to try something outside of the box.

Have any non-stylists attempted this at home? I have wavy-ish, thick hair. My FAVORITE part of a haircut is at the end, when I’m blown dry, and the stylist comes in with those shears and “thins it out”. It feels SOOOOO GOOD and removes some excess weight and future tangles. My stylist doesn’t seem to understand how much I crave the thinning shears. I often have to remind her to do it at the end, and I feel like she doesn’t take enough of the weight out. But it’s certainly better than nothing. I would LOVE to be able to do this at home, but I’m a bit intimidated. I’m not sure if I need to buy expensive shears or if I can follow a technique like this with my sharpest scissors at home.

I have exactly the same haircut as it was offered to me as a compromise for a bowl cut. It looks good when tucked behind the ears. Now it has grown out for 2 months and it looks very strange. I feel it ages me. I noticed later that my hairdresser uses this cut a lot on her older client’s though 😂.

I want to thank you for this cut :). I have been watching your videos for years, and have even bleached my level 5A fine thick hair to a 8A without too much issue/breakage/demarcation (my eyes are hazel- and the ash didn’t last long, but it was fun to have for a bit!). I have had the same cut for decades and no stylists here in the states voluntarily recommend new cuts, colors, etc to me. So I tried this at home and it’s stunning, I feel so beautiful. I have very much enjoyed the science behind hair coloring, and your new trends videos. I still go to the salon too. Thank you so much for your videos. Take care!

Great respect for precision! I apprenticed for a stylist who would get on me when I cut like this. He taught me to cut dry and visually which I am thankful for. I am thankful that learned many techniques from people whom I apprenticed for. Now I am guided by Jesus when cutting 🙌🏻🙂❤️

I can never get enough lift on my level 5 regrowth - do you have any suggestions for on scalp product or are they all much of a muchness if you mix and apply correctly. I beleive I mixed too much 20 vol this time (40 minutes) but the 1:2 mix looked too thick to apply - hindsight hey

I HOPE you see this comment or somebody that can help. Thank you so much for this as I’ve been balayage aging my own hair for several years. My question is this. I balayage freehand and I like the ‘balayage powder’ rather than bleach…… PLEASE. Can I do this technique using the balayage powder as well? Thank you

I always have Malibu swimmers at home as well as well water packets from Malibu . My highlights were PERFECT without toner!! But the money piece were over bleached and I put in shades eq 6n on roots and dragged down- and 9n all over- almost all highlights turned greenish yellowish and the money piece ughh

This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on this! I’m a former hairdresser but it’s been a long time and I never learned how to cut my own. I was able to do this on myself with success. Thanks so much-I love supporting my stylist but I pay so much for color, I appreciate the savings of cutting it myself.

Thanks so much. That first one you mentioned on taking too deep of a weave hit the mark! Won't make that mistake again 😭. Also, not having wide enough foils causing dark corners when you fold in the edges. Brilliant 😊

how will you do the new growth would you just do the base break at like 6wk and then bleach foil with base break at 12 wks? Oh also what vol is used with the color a 10 or 20, do you need to leave it on or very quickly apply and wash? Beautiful results!

would be cool to see one side cut square and the other side to be overdirected so we could see the difference between the two options. then you could just square up the longer side to make it match the other square side.

This is so helpful! I love all your videos. ❤ do you think if my client is wanting to have black on top ombre and pink on ends, should I do the black first and comb through, rinse and then do the pink? Or you can do both of them at the same time? But I am worried about black staining the prelightened hair and make a patch. Thank you so much in adv! ❤
