Helen Hiebert Studio www.helenhiebertstudio.com
I create installations, sculpture and drawings inspired by my fascination with paper and light. My compositions combine humble, everyday materials -- thread, paper and light -- to create transcendent physical environments which alter time, space and form. Both minimalist and expansive, my works evoke wonder, discovery and timeless connections.
I am also the author of several how-to books about papermaking and paper art: helenhiebertstudio.com/products/how-to-books/

Fascinating!
When a machine, in this case a Hollander, is used in the process, then it's called hand-crafted paper. If the pulp is beat by hand, and no machines are employed, then it may be called handmade paper.
Thank you, Helen! I was just feeling sad I don't have you around for guidance since I'm about to beat some flax and haven't done it in a few years....and then you appeared with this video! Yay!!
Oh good! Love it when timing is spot on.
Fantastic creations!

Get yourself a pair of headphones; put 100 hertz in the left ear and a 104 hz in the right ear and play it, the Brain Waves will resonate with the vibrato of the small discrepancy between Hertz's; if you concentrate, you can have an Out of Body experience
Half anyway, on my father's side- the most incredible intelligent Jew you have ever met or ever will dream to meet

Apologies to the nice ladies trying to make a video for the kitties I don't hold you responsible

Sick people? Really..?
You're last origami looks like an asshole, are you sure it's not FDR's?
FDR bears!!!
I don't even want to speculate what they'd call FTO bears I don't even want to speculate; and my fucking mind as angry as it is I will not even concoct such a name as that asshole would have given it
Into this day that is why they call the soft kiddie toys,Teddy bears
Tell the children the truth, FDR was a Communist; Teddy Roosevelt was a hero, he would not shoot the Bear who was caught in a cage ready for him to shoot with a rifle and it couldn't get away, so he wouldn't shoot it, tell the children the truth God damn it
Why don't you ask me a question?
Oh yeah," by tomorrow with the latest" I bet
Believe me you would not want to live in a "democracy".. TEACH the CHILDREN
In 50 years I meant they don't know it's a Republic, it's been a Republic ever since it's Inception I just meant since the last 50 years people don't even realized this is not a democracy
Most people don't even realize that the United States is a Republic not a "democracy'... for the last over 50 years!! do you even know that you freaking people making this video??
We live in a Republic not a democracy: in a democracy, 51% of people say, c-nts won't vote and 'c-nts' won't vote
Read the freaking comments I wrote read the comments and you don't even have to read between the lines that much for God's sakes and Jesus name and for god sakes I pray, in God's name read it
Oh did I screw up your stupid origami class
Yeah you God damn right I want a little more time you sons of fucking bitches
Teach the children the truth God damn it teach them the F-ing truth
And byw?? The "New Deal"?? Was the complete reason we had the goddamn depression in the 30s AND WW2 ( Where your precious FDR stole the American people's gold, took it for $20 / oz and somehow sold it to Switzerland for $35 / oz and thereby funding the war... but did HIS kids go to the war?no just yours mine & ours..why don't you tell the Gd truth for Christ sakes tell the Gd truth!!!
What a pleasure it must be to see and handle these fine papers every day. Just beautiful!
Hi ma'am can we supply you an abaca paper
Fabulous creations!
Whoa! VERY impressive!
Very nice ❤❤😊
Do you put these in your drying box or just let it air dry?
Yes, I dry them in my retsraint drying system.
Hi. Lovely video as always. What papers are you using? Sorry if I missed that info. Thx.
Where can you purchase the retention aid?
From papermaking suppliers: Carriage House Paper or Twinrocker Handmade Paper.
Is there a video link to the entire conversation?
No, I made a short video. There is a link above to the entire audio conversation on the podcast.
Fabulous!
What thread do you use?
I use a linen bookbinding thread. Colophon Book Arts Supply has small inexpensive spools of Londonderry threads in lots of colors.
Thank you.
Here in the SF Bay area, we know that fold as the "Turkish" map fold. It's one of my favorites! I appreciated all the creative applications, as well as the variations. Amazing what you can do with a folded piece of paper!
Yes, there are Turkish and Hungarian map folds in the video - one is a slight variation on the other. Thanks for watching.
@@HelenHiebert Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware of the Hungarian map fold name.
