2024 March 11 - 16 million!!! We are living in the golden age of Tetris now crowning our first super millionaire. I remember a time when a maxout was legendarily elusive to human players and now it is a rite of passage and now a rollover, too, is a rite of passage

Hmm... I just remember playing as a kid in the 90's so many times. I also remember going into a negative score when you hit a certain level. I was so focussed at that time starting level 19 and max out at around over level 300. Over level 190 it was so glitchy that a 4 lines score just jumped you up multiple levels. Like from 190 instantely to 202. And when going higher 1 line just gave a level up. Playing in the early 90's without Smartphones and cameras and beeing at around 10 years old and home alone.

Yeah, Moja stepped away from the scene while all of the other high level hypertappers switched to rolling. Moja's technique is still the best alternative to rolling (his 2.1 million personal best is still 23rd all-time on the leaderboards), but the ceiling for rolling is simply much higher, which explains why every tapper migrated to it.

This was amazing coverage! And you picked up the "introduce it for the newcomers" habit which I love so much from agamescout too. My only gripe is nobody explains why people talk about move timing in hertz, which for those of us not familiar with it isn't obvious. But boy did this match heat up!

Two things guaranteed to happen when I watch TAS... a) I'm insanely impressed by the strategies & gameplay possible within the limits of the game code... and b) my blood pressure goes through the roof! 😂 After decades of playing Tetris casually, I can't help having a visceral reaction watching gameplay that hovers on the edge of a 'game over' screen!
