    @dvdfrnzwbr: So, if someone doesn't give YOU a free five minute banjo lesson, you curse them out and wish them to be dead. Wow! How selfish and narcissistic are you? It's all about YOU, isn't it? Guess what? It isn't all about you, and people don't have to give YOU free stuff!

  • @rodsreel

    Give us yer money give us yer money - any lessons you need are free by other nice people who like to help beginners not fleece them of money. So many other good lessons out there - FREE, be part of the honest helping community - not this shit. Have a nice day y'all fae Bonnie Scotland

    +rodsreel And what precisely is wrong with professionals charging for their skill and expertise? No one is holding a gun to your head saying, "You MUST sign up for our music lessons!" This is how they make a living. Why do you have such an issues with this? Are there ways to learn some or much of this stuff for free? Sure, perhaps, but that doesn't make these professionals WRONG or GREEDY for making a living from their craft. Do you have a job? Do you go to work for free? Or are you self employed? Do you do what you do for NO money? I'm sure you do SOME work for SOME money, unless you are freeloading. Are you therefore dishonest?

  • @rodsreel
    @rodsreel8 жыл бұрын

    +David Pauley Whats wrong is the amount of money they charge for a very simple skill and the fact that they don't teach music they teach monkey style to keep people (kids often) coming back week on week, year on year!! They don't want people to know just how easy instruments are to play. Instruments are designed to be easy to play not difficult. Using famous people to get money out of beginners grates with me, it is so commercial, planned and false, real musicians with a soul for playing don't go down this line. Those who can't teach - for money. Those who can help for free. Music is not about being technically superb its about getting together and helping and enjoying. You should try helping someone for free and see the rewards it brings. Trying to get personal about me and implying I'm a free loader and dishonest really does prove my point and lets everyone see what kind of person you actually are!!! AGAIN - LOTS OF GREAT FREE LESSONS ON YOU TUBE TECHNICAL OR THEORY YOU TUBE REALLY IS THE BEST AND MOST VARIED FOR LESSONS.

    +David Pauley You asked me to answer YOUR questions so I did!!! Don't ask questions if you don't want truthful answers. Again you let everyone on You Tube see the kind of person you are with your latest lame comment which has nothing to do with anything except being personal in a bad way to me, an absolute useless comment. Have a nice day and try and think of your comments you've written as you try to play some music!!!

  • @rodsreel
    @rodsreel7 жыл бұрын

    OK, someone with a half decent comment for once, this is refreshing. With a good honest teacher you can learn at a good pace and after a fairly short time be teaching yourself as you will have been given the tools and know how to able to progress. You said it all " Great musicians don't give their secrets away" these are not secrets these are just facts which should be taught but they are not they are held back for more money . Students are kept in the dark some times for years thinking this teacher holds the answers to music. I find that great musicians do pass their knowledge on this is evident by the number of great free lessons on you tube. "Steve Martin banjo lesson" is a conn there is no banjo lesson, just someone trying to conn people into lessons falsely - avoid avoid avoid. I think conning beginners with the Steve Martin ploy is what has really annoyed me and others I can see from previous comments. I don't think conning people comes into liberal or socialist context. Cheers.

    Saw a wonderful concert with these two wonderful men at Bryant Junior High School in Salt Lake City, UT. I had been hearing about them so when I heard about the concert I went wild. As it turned out, the concert was in the gym not on stage, but it was so intimate and the two were so friendly and their playing was wonderful virtuoso quality. Why everyone doesn't know of them I don't know. Catch any of their albums. My favorites are Tideline - with Barbara Higbie (1982) Live at Montreux '84 (1984

    Hello Mike It really has been a pleasure to find on KZread. I am a boy of 68 springs, and play piano as a child, and banjo two years ago, and less than one mandolin. I've compiled a Mod F, Kentucky, with a kit purchased in USA. The plucked, and polished with shellac and pure olive oil. Q I invite you to see a video I made on a cattle ranch in the pampas, owned by a descendant of Irish friend of mine. "The Cowbell Old Joe Clark an Saint Patrick Day in the Morning"

    For those NOT in the "know", Sam's right hand "technique" is due to his wrist having been broken and insisting on playing in a cast. So he was unable to bend his wrist as if "shaking a wet rag". Go to ANY Mando workshop and you'll hear the tremolo technique discussed as such. He got used to picking that way - whether choppin, rhythmor lead.
