Sam Bush is not only a virtuoso of the mandolin but he is also one of the most infectiously cheerful human beings on earth today.
For those NOT in the "know", Sam's right hand "technique" is due to his wrist having been broken and insisting on playing in a cast. So he was unable to bend his wrist as if "shaking a wet rag". Go to ANY Mando workshop and you'll hear the tremolo technique discussed as such. He got used to picking that way - whether choppin, rhythmor lead.
Sam is my favorite mandolin player, and a great guy.
there is a video where he explains this. I'm not sure which one
Two masters.
@MandolinforJesus The song is Big Mon

thank you. I figured it out after.
@snowleopardjcb Sure enough, I had the pleasure of meeting him in Sevier county, TN earlier this year. Funny guy.
@Jack458111 well I haven't.
@popoaggie Haha its possible
@owsleyforkmusic He stands on his head and plays it, too. He probably could.
Well clearly his "inferior technique" works just fine for him. Id love to see you try to do half the stuff he does.
@Jack458111 You have have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
ive met 10 year olds that play better than sam bush. just sayin..
