  The worst National highway in Maharashtra currently. You will see lot of diversions and all are in pathetic condition due to rain. At a place near Shahapur, one side road is closed for more than 2 years now and both side traffic is moving from one side which causing 4-5 kms of jam on weekends. We travelled to Igatpuri from Kalyan this weekend and it took us 7 hrs to cover around 100 kms. And they are still charging toll after having such a bad experience on this road.

  Drove on NH66 from Mumbai to Goa in June 2024. The stretch from Panvel to about 10 kms before Chiplun is about 15% complete. Then stretch till about 10 kms after Chiplun in nice except the Chiplun bypass stretch. Next 130 kms is about 30 to 40% complete, but has a lot of small stretches where you are driving on just mud or potholes. Then you have a nice 110 km stretch till Goa border. Except the last bit, the rest should not be done at night as there are numerous hidden suspension busting speed breakers and road joints at different levels (the ones where you are driving onto a bridge and the height difference between the road and bridge is a few inches). The main positive of this road is that traffic was relatively less about 50 kms after Panvel. I came to Mumbai in 1996 and saw the board for "proposed site for new airport" and in 2001 I heard about the new Mumbai Goa highway - Both are yet to complete.

How cities/countries with similar terrain & seasons are countering it? 6) Spread Awareness - Spread Importance of certain pending approval or Under Construction Projects like - All METRO Line Staus in MMR, Mumbai-Goa Coastal Expressway, Mumbai-Bangalore Expressway, Vikhroli-Koparkhairane Bridge, Thane Coastal Road, Versova-Bandra Sea Link, Jogeshwari Junction Incomplete Flyover, Konkan Railway Line Doubling, Palm Beach Road Extension, Eastern Freeway Extension, Parellel Solution to LBS Road & SV Road Orange Gate to Mantralaya Tunnel, Mumbai Port - Easter Water Front Project 7) Whats Next? - Identify more such projects that can help for a smoother in city connectivity as per the current traffic zones.   @@SecondTwitter I am wondering what is the rationale of this rates? It stands at 3rupees for km.. Don't just go by hypocrisy of more petrol more time.. Just try to understand there should be uniformity/transparency with toll rates...road tax across india

  It's a much-needed upgrade for this route, but the entire patch till Asangaon is currently horrible. During weekends it easily takes 2- 3 hours to reach Asangaon from Thane & vice versa. Hope the struggle every commuter is facing will be worth it after the road gets upgraded. Also, apart from the Bhiwandi city bypass is there any other road one can opt for who is traveling from Mumbai to Nashik?
