    The show wasn't in any danger of cancellation at this point. You will see in S3 that a lot more money got pumped into the show. It was roughly in S4 going forward where cancellation was a constant threat.

    How did I not get a FaceBook Alert for Mikey's Birthday?!? What's wrong with this world? Loved the hot take by Mike at the end about Kat's promotion. And Joe and Mikey having none of it. Really though you're missing the plot line of D'ana. She made drawings of her passage through death back to life. That has to count for something? To be fair I paid no attention to that either during a thousand re-watches of the show. Guess I'm not 'too noticing' to have seen it. Great reaction guys! The next episode is one of my favorites of the entire series.

    Special homage here to the OG BSG, the Nova Madigon Starfield crossing to Carrilon. 🫡 Also, FYI, The military has a tradition of Posthumous promotions for deaths in the line of duty.... Especially in cases of valor where recognition is warranted.

    I really hate how short these episodes are... they should have released all episodes at once, that would have been fine then. 😐 Sol is walking in the shadows this episode. Qimir is really cool tbh and hearing move information about him is great! He also has much of that metal there, imagine him in an armor made from it. Osha doing the Darth Vader breathing. 😁 The light saber whip is very interesting, looks cool and totally whipped Qimir. Great reactions and discussion, looking forward to more. 👌

    Also, don't forget that they were using combat pilots to assist the CIVILIAN SHIPS; the civilian pilots weren't used to flying in those conditions and wouldn't have the hardened gear, so they were needed (and could only take one trip each) but there were roughly 50-60 ships to needed to go thru, and divide that by available pilots who could handle the jumps.

    Good discussion guys. After the action packed episode 5, I liked the slow burn/tension in this one especially the scenes between Osha and Qimir. I'm finding the Qimir character to be quite interesting, very seductive. While I enjoyed the episode, I do agree that the show might have been better served & less frustrating with longer, few episodes. Still the frustration does indicate engagement. I've taken to seeing how brief an episode is before watching to temper any expectations. The episode does hark back to The Last Jedi in location and themes. I have read other's comments that the planet might not be the same as where Luke was but instead might be a planet called Bal’denmic referenced in legends. I haven't read any of the legends novels so I wouldn't know but I thought Mikey or Eddie might. Lastly, Joe's excitement at the end was fun.

    I have some dual feels about this episode : On one hand, it's a great Kat episode and a superb "send off" . On the other hand ... -- as a continuation of the Kat-Starbuck rivalry / death - dance ... -- the one that we thought had peaked with the 'Scar' Cylon story & the "my cup has raneth dry ..." line from Kat ... --- for that rivalry, this was something of a lackluster ending, as Starbuck seemed to have reset her angst against Kat to zero, and started bitching at/to her again . In a way they pigeonholed Starbuck into the antagonist character, because Kat had no known beef with anyone else . In other news, the radiation that they encountered was a portion of solar radiation of a nearby sun to their target planet, so that caused the extreme hull degradation the we saw . They'll get back to that.

  • @Robotrik1
    @Robotrik116 сағат бұрын

    Also , about that last bit of commentary about Adama promoting Kat to CAG -- that was not a "hallow" act, but rather a reference to a military tradition in some militaries around the world, where a fallen soldier gets promoted one rank posthumously . As it was obvious to everyone that Kat was dying, Adama did a "promotion near death" instead of the"promotion after death" , when the person getting promoted could still appreciate it for a short while . Ronald D. Moor , the creator behind this version of Battlestar Galactica served in the US Navy, so he brought with him some Navy ideas, just like Gene Roddenberry who created Star Trek did back in the 1960's .

    I agree. I never liked Kat. Just felt like she was trying to be Starbuck and just wasn't good at it. I would have liked her a lot more if she was more humble in her conflict with Starbuck. She doesn't have to be perfect, but she didn't need to be so acerbic and confrontational.
