    I've lived here for 3 years and have only just found this out 😂 This is the thing that confuses me the most (inversion) so now I know it's not even necessary I might actually be able to learn more than 5 phrases! I just found your channel so will be trying to watch a clip everyday thank you!

    To be clear, "chez" doesn't mean "a place". It means "at" or "in" etc., depending on the context. It's a preposition.

    @@Street_French well, not really. It’s not even a noun. It’s confusing to translate it to "a place". Chez moi means "at me" or "at mine". It has no English equivalent probably, but many other languages have the same structure.

    Chez is more than a preposition. With its various uses, It's more like a particle of belonging.

    I think this is what is called " idiom" - this is how this language works - I think its better to accept & use these as it helps to familiarize how the " language thinks" Ça marche - Voilà❤

    Please stop spending so much time explaining old style french and get on to what we actually need to say instead of such and such. I want to know what real conversational French is used as opposed to formal French. We get it!

    “God’s day” sounds odd to us. A religious person might say “the Lord’s day” but nonreligious person is unlikely to say it. Great show!

    Thanks for the translation. My French wife has no patience for this, but I know that different music and cultures can express themselves differently than the old school sleepy mainstream.

    My French tutor says the same as you......but......he says the formal way will never be wrong, just not trendy. Another one is using nous instead of on. I am trying to break this habit of using nous, but it is difficult. Also in writing, it will be the "formal" way - non?
