⭐ WHAT IS StreetFrench ?
My name is Charlie (American🇺🇸 living in Paris🇫🇷) & I share French the way it's really spoken in everyday life, which is quite different from what I learned in school in the US 😅

As someone who learnt French at school and uni and now teaches it, I can vouch for your assertion that no-one teaches themselves successfully from an app. You need good motivation (not just "I've always wanted to speak it" or "I fancy the idea of me speaking it") like regular holidays or trips there, or communicating with French native speakers (e.g. on social media or chatrooms for French speakers). And no-one learns a language "in a few weeks"!

Although an American of Geman/Irish descent (and NOT French at all), I had the incredible luck of learning French as a child. Unfortunately, I can't claim that this happy accident has me helped to learn other languages.

@@Street_French I have studied Spanish and German and I do speak them to a certain extent. I can read them and communicate but I can't claim to be as fluent as I am in French, which is practically my other native language. I can also read a good bit of Italian, thanks to the French and Spanish and music studies. I think a solid six months of immersion in Madrid and Berlin would do the trick but life hasn't worked out that way. The weird part is that pronunciation, which is probably the hardest part for most people, comes easily to me, even in languages which I do not know at all. People think I am much more advanced in Spanish and German because my accent is way ahead of my other skills.

I think this is so true. I also think it is important to enjoy the journey. I love reading, listening to podcasts, watching videos, speaking to my penfriend and also my italki teacher. I am going to check out some of those other resources too. None of these things are a chore, which I am lucky I think so enjoy the ride too. Thanks for a good video.

I like to video myself talking about my day and then go back and see where my mistakes were and try again... And again... And again
