Great video and if I may add; If you disconnect the positive first or alone, the danger is that much of the metal around the battery (body, chassis, engine) is grounded and could be touched.

Just bought this same year/model off of the ole interwebs and trailered it home...pretty good condition for a 50 year old bike, but apparently it doesn't run (haven't even tried starting it yet). Hopefully it's just dirty carbs or something simple, but I am excited to hear it fire up for the first time. These old Hondas are so cool!

Thanks for the video, I have a 2017 and the alternator went bye bye two days ago, sourcing a replacement is almost impossible where I live, there are zero in any scrapyard or used auto parts dealer. Non oem and oem are going to take a week to get here minimum. And then I have to make sure I don't get the 4 pin like you did :(

Great video, very clear and concise. For anyone having trouble opening the light covers, try turning clockwise after going past the 1/8 counterclockwise mark, it usually gets it to pop out. Also, a strong piece of rope or paracord is really useful for getting additional leverage on the rotating plate, hook it around the main tab and manipulate the direction with rope.

A tl;dr guide to help those struggling in the future so they dont suffer like I did. How to change the driver side bulb: 0) You will need a small flathead screwdriver for "crowbaring" and any long, durable object; I used a 2nd bigger flathead screwdriver. If your bulb is a HALOGEN bulb like on a RAV4 2013/2014 model then DO NOT touch the bulb at any time or your body oil may cause damage to the bulb by disturbing its heat distribution when turned on; always handle the bulb by its base, 1) We need to move the windshield wiper fluid reservoir (the white hose thing with a black lid) off to the side so we can easily access the bulb cover. The reservoir is attached to the car via a black seal. This can be easily removed by using the small screwdriver BETWEEN the circle and outer ring and "crowbaring" downwards to push the circular part upwards and out. 1.5) I would HIGHLY recommend taking this black seal part OUT of the car until you have finished everything else so that you don't accidentally drop it into the engine area like I did... 2) Disconnect the exterior wire that is attached to the cover, it's fine to leave it hanging, 3) Time to remove the cover. Above the letter "O" on TOP is an arrow. If you crank your head forward enough or look from a different angle you will see along the edge of the cover there is a ball at the 10/11 o'clock position. This is where you need to rotate the triangle to. Do NOT make the mistake of overdoing this part and rotating the cover too far or it will not open. To open: you need to rotate counter-clockwise. Left hand pulls up, right hand uses the long, durable object you prepared to push downwards. Any of the tabs on the edge are fine to use as leverage points. 4) Same as the passenger side bulb change. Disconnect bulb -> replace bulb -> reconnect wire to bulb -> put on cover 5) Reverse the first few steps: replug the exterior cable -> move the reservoir back to its initial position -> put the black seal back in -> job done.

So im writing a book, main character is gifted a harley fatboy to fix up by his father and the kid ends up. Riding at late hours lets just say 😂 would he be able to tune the fatboy so it would be near silent? Im not too versed in mechanics and was wanting him to maybe make his bike quite but not sure if thats possible.

I am trying to add a digital tach to my 89 Yamaha TW200 but the coil has one positive connection from the CDI and it is grounded on the negative side. connecting the sensor wire to the positive coil wire does not make it work nor does connecting the sensor wire to one wrapped around the spark plug wire like an induction tachometer. Is there a place on the CDI unit or the stator wiring that is safe to connect the signal wire? One that will trigger the digital tachometer?
