UPDATE May 2024: First off, big thank you to Su for creating this amazing video that inspired me to fullfil a lifelong dream of going to the Faroes. Just got back in late May and wanted to share a couple of updates- 1. Mykines- Take the ferry to Mykines because it will take you right up close to Drangarnir so it would be foolish to take a private boat and the Drangarnir hike is still guided which I'd imagine would be a long slog with the time spent on better solo hikes elsewhere. Yes, on Mykines you do have to take the guided tour to see out towards the lighthouse but the guides were 2 very cool young ladies, they let you go on a short hike solo anyways afterwards, and you get to see the Puffins! And the hike that you can no longer take (landslide) didnt seem that long anyways so I dont think that should be a deal breaker. And an old native lady (Grandmother of one of the guides) will sell you some good home cooking. Mykines was awesome!! 2. Kalsoy, The Light House (Bond), the Seal Woman- I would highly recommend making this the nicest day of your journey simply because of the epic 360 views. Secret hike- You can hike to the top of the mountain above Bonds grave but it's not easy. This was easily a top 3 day of my entire life! 3. I went in May and was pleasantly surprised by all the baby animals which I hadnt thought about. 4. Saksun beach and then hike to Tjornuvik. You definitely need to make a day of this!! 5. The ferry tickets are no joke, get them in advance! Those are the major things I wanted to point out. All the other hikes, views, and villages were truly great as well, so if you decide to sacrifice one thing to spend more time in another, you should definitely do it. Its was all great! In my opinion I enjoyed my 5 days in the Faroes more than 8 in Iceland beacuse in the Faroes I was hiking 80% of the time and in Iceland I was driving for what felt like 80% of the time. Thanks again for the wonderful inspiring video on the Faroes and the best I have seen!

Q: Do you think its possible to get to STUDLAGIL Canyon and Back to Reykjavik and do some of the main site on the southern road in 5-Days? or is that completely pushing it and not worth attempting? Is the 2nd week in September a decent time for Puffins, everyone I've asked say they would migrated already. I just cant tell if they know or just getting me to do a different tpe of day tour/trip with them? Great video-editting. I'v gonna check out your Bali video next.
@AllanSu5 күн бұрын
It would be a serious push. You'll have some very long driving days and you most likely have to skip a few things on your way to Studlagil. As for Puffins, they are usually gone by September.

It looks super windy everywhere, is it like that all year round? Asking because, as a plein air painter, I'd love to go there with my painting gears, and hike to a few of the beautiful spots and paint all day. Are there "calm" days where my easel will hold up all day without being blown over. This place is crazy beautiful, and now I feel like I'd have to go. Thank you for this great video!

In general, it's quite windy since the islands are pretty exposed to the North Atlantic winds. It's best to check the weather forecast before venturing out.

It's such an amazing place! I have only visited once and I absolutley love it. Views are amazing, hiking is perfect, small towns and villages seems so cozy. Would stays for weeks if I had the opportunity. When Sweden goes down the drain (soon I figure) I'll move to the Faroe Islands, but I hear it is not easy to get residency.
