I am wanting to build a Koi pond. But I’m not too sure on what filter would be the best. I have a pump that would work just fine, but I want it to be an ecosystem pond. What filter would be the best?

Honestly love this Mark!! I just turned 25 and have a passion for aqua-landscaping and providing more habitit for wildlife, i'm about to leave my job of 5yrs with the ain of learning how to professionally creat/fit water features after making 7 wildlife and ecosystem ponds for friends/family!! Not enough people have been educated onon the way that certain types of aquatic/marginal plants *CAN* clean up the water in the pond so effectively!! Keep doing what you're doing mate.

Sick Pond! I've a question, why did you have to take the turf away either side of the pond? It's something to do with the level but I can't work it out.

I would like to use plants in gravel with the main purpose of removing nutrients from the water . I recently re-lined the pond with a butyl liner and an refilling it with rain water off a garage roof. It's about 5,000 litres. It is ominously going a little green. I have used barley straw extract and have put in some barley straw bales. Do you think i could use plants to take nutrients out of the water? If so any recommendations as to how to do it. There are no fish in the pond.

I have a pond without any fish that I'm struggling to keep clean. Just gets very dark and murky algae Etc. What would you advise on how to keep that clean because there are no fish I can imagine I can hit it with stronger stuff? Any products or maintenance that you can recommend. Thank you I really appreciate it. Do those small plug-in UV filters work? I don't have any major filtering installed. It's just a pond with a pump to keep the water circulating

I can not understand why each and every video or article on the matter adress only one side of the problem, which is from my experience a lot less common. More often you need to lowrer the Ph, especially when you trying to fight algee. And no, Ph 8,5 is not good.

Im working on a pond for my grandma's red eared slider (turtle) thats 6 foot by 9 foot and 3 feet deep with a shelf on the 6 foot side going an additional 18 inches back and 18 inches down for plants. Going to line it with 45 mil EPDM and was not aware i needed an underlayment. I have some 20 mil fiber reinforcement greenhouse plastic and was hoping it will work if I double it up.

👏🏾 ok i get the idea now. Mark i am buikding a 3 metet round pound/pool well it will look like a pound but it will have a walk in entrace for those hot days for one to enter. I will also have a waterfall about the pound/pool which will bring water down into the pool and back out to the waterfall again. Looking at this video the eco wave sounds like the kid for me so can you give me some advice ? So i was going to make 3 large box's with one having the pump filtering the water into tye other two which then will swnd the water down onto the waterfall. Do i need a skimmer and do i need a bottom drain with this type of set up do you think ? Regards Sylvester

Hi Mark, love your videos. Recently tested pond, everything fine apart from ph which is low at around 6. Pond is 4000 litres, filtered, aerated, trickle water feature. Sticklebacks happy, zooming about and nesting, but goldfish ( a few added a month ago) are hiding and really don't look happy. Lots of plants and I skim all the time to remove debris, but lots of blanketweed. Do I have a problem? Any non chemical solutions?

My biggest concern iof foam s the effect on wildlife. Do they make spray foam that won't kill hummingbirds or make larger animals sick? That stuff can't be good for you.

Hey hope youre well, question about the Reedmace/Bullrush/Cat tail in the pond. Do you personally recommend planting them in containers for the spread or in the pond substrate or even planted further from pond a few feet, have a 5ft by 4ft pond and worried about spread
