Great, but who are these guys? And are they really juggling something I composed? Tom Johnsonn

Dear Tom, these guys are Alejandro Escobedo, Daniel Sanchez, Olli Vuorinen, Jean-Baptiste Diot, four jugglers booked by company Les Objets Volants for a project we did in 2019 with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. This piece was originally part of Liaison Carbone, a show created in 2013. This piece was just named after you because we wanted to make a reference to your work. The process of this piece is just to superimpose four cycles of different lengths : 4, 6, 8, 10 beats, in the phasing way of minimalistic music. A higher throw takes 2 beats, smaller throws take 1 beat. Jugglers respectively do 31, 21, 16 and 13 higher throws. The last higher throw happens together for all jugglers, they catch it and stop juggling. Since we decided to juggle everything in a cascade style (all throws changing hand), we had to make the 2nd juggler throw a fountain throw at some point (a throw that comes back to the same hand) so the final high throw is done for everybody from the same hand. Or we would have had to double the length of the piece, which we thought was too long for the context. We don't perform this piece anymore these days, but who knows if it will happen again. Some students in Stockholm recently worked on it.

this is insanely clever...to play your boomwhacker, hand it to the person opposite while someone else hands you a boomwhacker, then you place them both (while collecting more) in a pile for someone else who needs them next...i'm cooked

FUN!!! Love the rubato (wait, I gotta pick this one up!) and the added rasp of the boomwhacker as it slides across the floor. Part music, part fencing, part dance, part juggling.
