  I like this song so much its so heavy I love the guitar solo everything about this song in my opinion is one of the hardest songs I've ever heard...everything about this song is awesome, I especially like the vocals as well...

  Messiah's version tops em all it's a lesson in metal opera he transformed this song. Rob does great hear though and I love the dirtier mix to the guitar so raw....

  I love the original, but Robert's take on the tune is badass! I prefer Messiah's voice over Johan's as well. No slag against Johan his voice just isn't as powerful or as soaring as Messiah's.

  This is probably the best of the Lowe trilogy of albums. They should have quit after Psalms for the Dead or just kept Lowe around. The stuff they've done since he left just sucks to me.... because this more modern uptempo pissed off Candlemass style was just perfect with him and no other vocalist can pull it off after you've heard Lowe do it. Mats Levén was just a cheap imitation and now they've got Längqvist back and I had hoped they would return to that Epicus Metallicus sound/style but nope they didn't bother to change their songwriting style slightly back to the old sound, they've got Johan basically trying to do his best Lowe impression instead of singing how we all remember he did on the first album. I just don't dig what they've done at all since Psalms. Does anyone else feel this way? If they wanted to continue this style they should've brought Messiah back because he was pretty damn good on the self-titled record which pretty much kicked off the way they've been writing songs since. If any of you real Candlemass fans (whether you agree or disagree with me or not) took the time to read this entire opinion based essay at-least give me a thumbs or a reply or something.

  The issue with Door to Doom is that it wasn't written with Johan in mind. Leif writes the music to suit whoever they have in the band at the time, so the music was more akin to the EPs with Mats Levén. The album even includes the song House of Doom, which was recorded with Mats originally. Strangely enough, Mats was meant to join way back in 2007 for King of the Grey Islands (just about the entire album was recorded with him on vocals), but they picked Robert at the last minute. Also, I don't think Johan can sing quite the way he did on Epicus anymore. Age tends to make one's vocals a bit more gravelly, which is the case with Johan now. He still has a great voice though, and if Candlemass sticks with him (fingers crossed), I hope we can see more creative songwriting again. Heck, the man was already slated to re-join way back on Chapter VI, which was a rather unique change in direction for them. I would love more of that again.

  I always found it amusing that poor old Candlemass started out with their absolute best album - Epicus Doomicus - with the best song - Solitude - as the first track on it. I mean, where do you go from there? Still, I'm enormously fond of them.

  Yeah on Epicus they had that great lead guitarist & drummer also who was incredible I guess they were just session players but Leif needed them in the band forever Of course Johan young ruled on vocals
