Try cover of the song by Oceans of Slumber. In my opinion, it is of interest.

I honestly can't decide on which vocalist I like the best....I'll just say Candlemass is a band that has always had a phenomenal vocalist, regardless of the era.

honestly, I prefer this version, Robert Lowe's voice is HEAVIER and I love it !!

No one can match Messiahs Samaritan, the last verse is godlike.

Robert is still my favorite of them all. Then Messiah and Johan.

I like this song so much its so heavy I love the guitar solo everything about this song in my opinion is one of the hardest songs I've ever heard...everything about this song is awesome, I especially like the vocals as well...

Robert Lowe by far the best for me been listening for them forever too his voice is insane!

Can't we just all agree that Candlemass had an absolutly great pool of vocalists over the year without ripping ourself apart over the best one. They were all great and Leif managed to creat album sound which fits each one of them most. You humans with your "One has to be the Best" attitude make me sick -.-

They changed up the guitars a bit on this re-recording which is a nice touch. I'm not that big of a Lowe fan but his vocals on here rule!

Absolutely, he rants on and on "hey hey hey hey" and dances, but the actual singing part? Uh-uh, no no just laaazy. I envy and congratz everyone who will enjoy Candlemass playing Epicus with Johan next year, headbang for me too and cheer him good, he deserves it!

Also love Messiah's Under The Oak (though the original is great too).

Messiah's version tops em all it's a lesson in metal opera he transformed this song. Rob does great hear though and I love the dirtier mix to the guitar so raw....

It really is a shame that Candlemass fired Robert. If they don't bring him back then I hope the new guy is temporary untill they bring back Messiah.

I like the vocals of the original more, but this version's sound is so much more powerful, I like the vocals of this one too, ofc, but meh, I still prefer Messiah's voice, and still, this is my favourite version of the song.

Hate to say it but I agree this version is much better than the original.. like old school Candlemass though.

Lowe is better in Solitude Aeturnus. Johan is (imo) better than Messiah. I would rather hear the original of this... and I would rather here Lowe in SA. I prefer SA's first 2 albums to all epic doom.

I always found it amusing that poor old Candlemass started out with their absolute best album - Epicus Doomicus - with the best song - Solitude - as the first track on it. I mean, where do you go from there? Still, I'm enormously fond of them.

Yeah on Epicus they had that great lead guitarist & drummer also who was incredible I guess they were just session players but Leif needed them in the band forever Of course Johan young ruled on vocals

No, Messiah did not sing the original studio version from their first album, that was Johan Lanquist[not sure about spelling]. I like this version too, this remake, but on the same album they had Robert redo "At The Gallows End", Messiah's masterpiece, that was did not come out well, to Me. That one they should have left alone. The new album should be great, its going to be called "Death Magic Doom"

Thomas wasn't bad either. Chapter VI was a good album.

I love the original, but Robert's take on the tune is badass! I prefer Messiah's voice over Johan's as well. No slag against Johan his voice just isn't as powerful or as soaring as Messiah's.

Man.. Robert Lowe did a bad ass job, the originally in my opinion was better.. But that doesn't make Robert a bad vocalist.. If you had heard this guy in other songs, I'm damn sure people would change there opinions about him, and I like Robert Lowe better then messiah

You've listened to Candlemass for 7 years and never listened to Epicus where one of the greatest singers of all time sings on? Johan Längquist? Messiah have a crazy voice but I can't stand it live, it's not bad, but he is so god damn lazy. Lowe in Candlemass is still a grower, but his work in Solitude Aeturnus should be heard by everyone who enjoys doom. A living legend in my books, that voice is just great, so fucking great.

I think both Rob and Messiah are great singers... but for some reason I think Solitude from 1986 is better than this version (even it's not sung by Messiah). Anyway - great song and great band. Candlemass forever!

Well , i like more messiah . But i have to say that this song sung by Langqvist its 4000 times better.
