Getting to this a few days late, but it was a great watch! Thank you Cory (and cat), and of course thank you too, Josh! Lots of lovely behind-the-scenes information and thoughts. Your admission to having been a major leaker was a fun moment, Cory addressed that in a well-measured manner. The early development of the line is fascinating. Cory has every right to be proud of the second MMPR Red helmet sculpt, it looks great (still need to get my hands on it, hopefully sometime next year). Mystic Force would've definitely been a cool team to see, though with Cory's talk about plastic vs. soft goods for capes, I suddenly had a vision of some Rangers having plastic capes and some having soft good capes - what's an LC team without inconsistencies, after all? His thoughts on the possibility of a revival were intriguing, certainly nice to hear that there's no outright "it's not returning" even if I'm not expecting it to happen (didn't Playmates confirm they'll be doing collector figures for PR at SDCC?). Finally, that Roboskull is one hell of a metal design!
If the Lightning Collection comes back, I hope after they remaster any MMPR figures left like Lord Zedd and the White Ranger, even remaster figures that fumbled in the past such as Zeo Blue, Time Force Red, Dino Thunder White, Lost Galaxy Yellow, and Dino Fury Green.

I've given up on the hope of hasbro continuing the Lightning Collection. I would love to see a third party company, like there is with Transformers and DragonBall, that fills in the missing members of the different Ranger teams. Maybe even make the teams Lightning Collection never touched. When Hasbro makes Power Rangers figures again, it's going to be brand new designs. I don't see them touching any of the old shows outside of MMPR because they don't want to pay Toei any licensing fees.
Watching this interview, I pulled the trigger and finally bought The Omega Rangers.

Good information. I miss the Lightning Collection. Rangers are cool, but I really wanted civilian clothes rangers, and supporting characters. At least I got the core SPD members.
If Lightning Collection returns, I would like to see Make-A-Monster (BAF) waves.
I agree, but I think one of the reasons they didn't do BaFs was because they included more accessories than most of their lines. Most Marvel Legends BaF wave figures have little to no accessories. The figures are very cookie cutter with most costume details being painted on to a body that is used 100s of times over. Even though there was a lot of reuse, there were also a lot more unique parts from suit to suit. Plus, some figures were just totally unique sculpts with a one tine use. PR seemed like a dream brand for Hasbronas it seems like you could just use one base body for all the rangers. However, there are enough differences in sculpt and enough unique accessories that made the line more costly to make than I think they were willing to invest.

After a year of the line being cancelled. I feel this is interesting conversation to be having now. But i do feel like if they see the traction that things like this is getting they will bring the lightning collection back. Please bring the lighting collection back and let’s complete forever red. 3 more figure lightspeed red ranger quantum ranger and wild force red.
They can't be mad at the leaks because it isn't leaking a unseen design from like a movie. I just wish they did the movie suits.
Wish you asked him why did they apply the marvel legends logic and rules to power rangers. Power rangers are uniform and not like other heroes. I'd rather if they did something incorrect like silver when it should be white the whole team be silver instead of white. Now there's a void. They didn't even finish the helmets.
I think he was right I think we need a new teens of the Power Rangers lightning collections line but as well coming back soon just like what happened in G.I. Joe was like never been came back until now they’re back
Now I'm really curious what the sculpt was they were working on before the line got scrapped.... 🤔

The big question to ask is why was the Lightning Collection line *Cancelled* ? And why is Power Rangers being put on the backburner at Hasbro? 🤨🤨
I heard Hasbro has a $50 million goal for their brands. When they don't get at least $50 in a year they shelve the brand.
Because Hasbro never wanted the brand. The former CEO bought it without permission from the board of directors, then passed away shortly after the purchase was made. They still had to fulfill contracts with Netflix, Nickelodeon and Toei though, so as soon as those expired there was little to no interest in renewing them, especially if they weren't making as much money as their other brands.
We still need baboo and squatt. I hope that they will be released one day
And Rito. We were close to a full palace crew.

There was a press statement from Playmates from VP of marketing at playmates that they are launching children’s and collectors version of Power Rangers figures. They said it’s gonna be „well constructed figures at a better price than other collectible companies”. TBH I’ve seen their collectors figures for TMNT figures and most of the time they suck. Playline toys are great from them. I wished Jada Toys would acquire PR license cause they are making great collector action figures for Street Fighter II

Interesting how he describes his role as I previously thought those were the responsibilities of someone called a "Designer" in title. (Similar to how the other Hasbro brands will often have designers on live streams.) Also, interesting that Hasbro outsources nearly all of the sculpting work? Or at least they did for Lightning Collection. And this confirms that yes, they were indeed just looking at the internet for design resources (for some amount of time anyway). Who knows how well kept/consistent the Saban resources were. From how Cory described the workflow, it didn't sound like Hasbro had anyone overseeing that sort of quality control. So even with Saban's reference material, the designers/sculptors could very well still have been using the internet if they didn't get everything they needed (like from the older stuff as he mentioned). This is in no way to say I blame Cory, or any individual designer/sculptor. Again, like I said, Hasbro should have had someone in a position with knowledge of the franchise and could double check the accuracy and consistency of the designs. I know we'll never see it, but I'd be VERY interested to see what Saban cobbled together in terms of reference material. I wonder how much of it needs to be overhauled/corrected LOL. Thank you for your continued dedication to the line Josh. Love getting insights to how toy making/Hasbro works and this was a real treat.

American figures look SO BAD! So childish also. Jason practically looks like a t*****. with those red lips. Paintjob is terrible. Joints look terrible also. I know most American figures sell half the price of Japanese figures. But there's no reason to cut the quality so bad like that!
My favorite, and the only MMPR pink I bought from the lightning Collection, is Ranger Slayer. Maybe I’ll pick up remastered for the Kimberly head. Is she hard to find now?
