African polyrhythms with Cuban, Brazilian “spices” and the band’s improvisational energy were a phenomenal combination.

When it was the Santana band, (1968-1973), it was the most creative, innovative and inspiring. After the mid 70's Carlos Santana made it more of a solo thing with revolving musicians. It was no longer the same. Something was lost.

I meet Bruce for the first time the last day of August 95 just outside of Philly. These shows must be emotional. The thing I remember that night was after the back stage I was walking with him to the bus and someone had a photo of him and Jerry at the Vet. Bruce stop and was moved from the photo and told us that he talked to Jerry 2 days before his death and he was is good health looking towards of going back on the road.
