  @@someguynyer no, they're not. ashkenazim are still dominating the upper echelons of society. there are some exceptions to it, for example - lior raz. other than that israel is still the same double-apartheid state, the harsher one towards palestians, and the mild one towards non-ashkenazim.

  As-salamu alaykum Ghada, Yemeni hebrew is the closest to biblical hebrew which is why it sounds so identical to Arabic :), it's a reminder that Hebrew is actually a semetic language.

  That's literally not true. This song is about a very real situation decades ago. There are still stereotypes but Jews of color are represented everywhere in any job and status and are the majority here. Plus a ton of us are mixed by now too, the lines between are getting blurry anyway.

  Mohammed killed off or converted the Arab Jewish Tribes, these are Mizrahi Jews, not Arabs. Which is why they were persecuted out of Yemen. PS There is no "Palestine". But we all know what 'Mizrahi' means Jews living in Arab countries -- and some, like the Yemeni Jews, are very adapted to Arab culture (as were Palestinian Jews in places like Hebron before the Zionists forced them to be Europeanized). Millions of Arab Jews would have spoken Arabic for daily communication, and would have been integrated into Arab society to varying degrees. Zionists dislike the term 'Arab Jews,' but they still went to great lengths to de-Arabize these Jewish populations, even going as far as confiscating their children and giving them up to adoption to Ashkenazi Jews from Europe.
