Thirty+Rollin

Thirty+Rollin

Welcome to Thirty+Rollin!

I'm Brenden, a 36 year old husband + father of 2 with a passion for inline skating.

Why Thirty+Rollin?

When I hit my thirties I felt like it was the beginning of the end. Since then I have made it my goal to not let a number tell me what I can or cannot do. So, I decided to get back into something that most people in their thirties wouldn’t, inline skates! The second I put those skates on I was transported back to the days free of troubles and worries! And with that, Thirty+Rollin was born!

I hope my journey as a 30+ inline skater inspires others, to pick up some skates and get out there!

I feel you maaan...! Put my shoulder out two years ago (falling forward off a ramp). SLAP tear, labrum torn, cartilage had to be anchored back in... I really empathise with how you're feeling and thinking about this injury. You probably know this already but strengthening ALL of your rotator cuff muscles is SO SO crucial. Bless and be safe; greetings from London..! Tom

Less stable at slower speeds because of height. But at speed not bad because of length.

I've started skating in 2020, at the age of 40/41 something ahahaha I need to make my math here. But... My real first roller skates are the Rollerblade Cruiser 4x80 that I still have. Then, I wanted a faster one and bought a Powerslide Zoom Pro 3x100. I like it, but I didn't feel a bigger different, maybe because the stock Hurricane wheels are too smooth and they hold you back in comparison to the 4x80 stock rollerblade wheels. I love skating. It's a big part of my life now and I'm looking forward to get my third roller skates now: either àn FR skates FR 2 3x110 or a rollerblade Twister 3x110.

Love this short series you did for this. My wife and I started our training for the event this year in 2024. It has been a long time since we street skated. We both have a long way to go and a short time to get there. Love your channel and hoping for more content soon. It helps keep us motivated to skate. We are both pushing 50 and still using skating as a way to stay active.

to everyone with normal wide feet. Be sure to test the FR Spin. This is the best skate I've ever had. And I even have the Powerslide HC-Evo for significantly more money. Anyone who can live with a little pain in the initial phase should give the Seba High a try. An absolute all-round carefree skate that is extremely robust and provides a lot of support.

Weirdly enough I can do the chop stop and spin stop, but I'm really bad at going around corners and always have been. So it's weird as an adult returning to skating and realising that my child self chose to learn advanced stops and skipped more basic stuff 😂 oh I can charge forward real fast too and as a kid I'd do that to race other skaters but then they'd leave me behind on corners.

I've had my NR110s for about 6 months now and for me, what I realized was they're just a tad too tall for me to really enjoy them other than a nice cruiser frame. I've tried them on both the Seba wizard carbon boots and the new FR wizard Base boots. Again, for me, for wizarding on NR110s is a matter of the height thing for me.

I'm trying to decide between these and the new Lighting 80. I was a huge skater in the 90s (I rode the old Lightning II). I just bought a pair of K2 Kinetic and they are horrible I keep falling over the outside of the blade and the frame is molded into and are unadjustable, they were such a mistake. I'm almost 50 and I thought there was something wrong with me and not the skate at first.

@@ThirtyandRollin I loved my 90s lightnings, do you think I would be happier with the Twister? The lighting is $199 and the Twister is $349. That's a big price difference, I just want a skate that's going to be comfortable and I'm not rolling over the outside of the frame.

There's kind of a math issue: Braking generates heat, and exponentially more with speed. At low speeds it all seems fine, then at a certain speed the wheels are heating up faster than the speed is reducing. Then you're REALLY not stopping.
