Any advice on how to do this if you don't own any actual instruments? Basically just using midi?
@wlblaxy5 ай бұрын
Yeah absolutely! For this genre real instruments is definitely not a must, most melodies are simple and you chords are not really necessary. I’d recommend using GarageBands midi guitars, and tweaking the settings a bit. Add some chorus, reverb and eq to make it sound better and more “realistic”. When it comes to melodies and music theory, keep everything pretty simple, you pretty much only need a few different notes repeating for a melody. Layering different melodies is what makes the sound of this genre. When using midi, adjust the velocity on the notes and move them slightly off the grid to make it sound more “human”. The same thing goes for bass. The sound of a real bass and midi bass is not that different so I’m sure you can make it sound good. If you want, another thing you can do is merge a track and convert it to audio, and then put it through a GarageBand amp, allowing you to add more effects and tweak the sound even more. I hope this helped!

I’m sorry, what do you mean? I used the “Linndrum” kit from the vintage drum machines pack, if that is what you are asking for.

@wlblaxy5 ай бұрын
@@tinykarpo80s honestly I don’t know that well, but I’m pretty sure molchat doma used linndrum in some of their songs. Another machine you could use is the TR-707. I don’t know that much about drum machines sorry.

Tip: Rearrange the song before pitching it down, because when you pitch it down the speed also goes down, so it will probably be off tempo and it will be much more tedious to make it sound good.
