Journey To Health After 60

Journey To Health After 60

Hello my name is Cathy. I decided, to share my journey with YOU. I WAS unhealthy, scared and lonely. I am now, HEALTHY, EXCITED and THRIVING!

I have struggled with several health challenges including, lupus, fybroidmyalgia, pulmonary aneurysm and open heart surgery on tons of pills (RX) as well as terrible arthritis pain. Day to day was such a struggle I often wished I was dead.

I read 100's of books on herbs, positive thinking, motivational techniques and consumed countless hours of KZread. I focused on mental health, physical health, the good the bad and the ugly of it all. I dove into cook books, food and it's impact on our body as well as our mind.

To date, I have come such a long way. Dumped a majority of my excess weight and built muscle to help me get to my goals of HEALTHY. I have dumped ALL my prescriptions and focus on eating the best I can afford as well as quality movement.

I LOVE experimenting on new things knowing I can't fail ...As long as I TRY. Join me 😊🙏

    How do you make these? Do you rehydrate the sea moss and add the powders to it? If so, then do you blend it all together and store in refrigerator? Do you take it by the teaspoon? Can you recommend books or sites about this? Thank you!

    I wish I would’ve seen this video before. Didn’t have my holidays at home this year so I didn’t but any cranberries. I guess I will have to wait until next year.question what do you do with the cranberries and blueberries and orange when you want to drink it juice,and do you mix the juice from the jar with water when you want to have any.

    I have some of sunflower seeds. The pack says, it has pollen. Does it mean I cant feed the bees and butterflies? Does it also mean it wont grow seeds. The good part, it can bloom in 50 to 70 days. But they are just yellow.

  • @journeytohealthafter60
    @journeytohealthafter6011 ай бұрын

    The pollen is what feeds the bees. The seeds feed local birds unless you cover it to keep them.

    To prevent blossom end rot, I save every eggshell, rinse and throw in a box until the box is full. I bought a coffee grinder at a yard sale I’ve dedicated to this purpose. I grind and save in used mayonnaise jars until time to plant tomato plants. (Peppers, too). In the tomato hole I put a large handful of ground eggshells. I haven’t had blossom end rot since then. It is caused by a lack of calcium. Overwatering will wash away your calcium and minerals so replenish them occasionally.

  • @journeytohealthafter60
    @journeytohealthafter60 Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for info. Unfortunate that isn't working. Ivputvcrushe egg shells with all my plants when planting and monthly. Ibalso do Jimz fertile. I am learning it is more about water and the plants ability to uptake the calcium to the fruits. I also read that sometimes the first fruits do this and to be patient. So I will water more by cking in afternoon too and hope it works 🙏. I have everyone save me egg shells lol I start out with 4 32 oz jars full of pulzerized shells. Both duck and chicken. So needless to say I was googling and digging for answers as I did all hits n tricks so heart broke when my heirloom cherekee purple tomato had a rot 😪. So sad. New soil and new "self watering" experiment probably not helping. Did I miss anything?

    Yes! I have similar set up as yours and have seen that the vines can root on the ground around the box, so I have last yrs straw and compost around boxes hoping that happens! My sweet potato slip mother is going in my grandfathers wheel barrel with flowers. I got tooo many slips from her! Also doing potato's in boxes and 2 rows with straw on top as they grow, (at my neighbor's) to see difference in yields. We love taters and paters! 😁🥰

  • @MarkSmith-qk2rl
    @MarkSmith-qk2rl Жыл бұрын

    It’s best to leave them until the vines start dying back. It’s also better to clip the vines a few days before you harvest and before it rains. That will help toughen the skin a bit. Let them cure in a dry warm place out of the sun for a couple weeks. That allows the carbs to turn into sugar. Don’t wash until you cook. We grow about 25 sets every year. A couple little things, the small young leaves are great in a salad and the fresh little shoots are great to stir fry. The Asian people taught me that many years ago, and trust me it’s worth a try ! They thrive on potash. If you burn a fire save the ashes before they get wet and mix a good bit in the soil along with a good 10-10-10 when you plan. Then after they’re up and start running dress some more ash in, then let them go. Keep them watered even if you think they don’t need it. The vines are really drought resistant but the taters need water. They also need FULL sun for best yields. Hope this helps. 😊

    Guess what?! Was looking up maple syrup, has quebectol, which is very healthy (Quebec). Hence the name. Used real maple syrup to make cranberry sauce. First time 1cup. Last time , half cup. Was thicker but thinned a bit with filtered water. Just wonderful! Great to see using cranberry. Amazing how many don’t eat it. I love them. Thanks for the juice recipe. Have two bags left I bought on sale. Gonna try this from frozen ones.

    It truly is quick n easy with zero mess. I prefer to only make one at a time as i like to use different recipes for different uses. For instance, a face salve versus a muscle salve. So I had to figure out a way to do that. I am working on single chapstick and single face cream.

    I’ve never tried making anything medicinal. Where do you get all of these ingredients like plantain, comfrey oil etc?

  • @journeytohealthafter60
    @journeytohealthafter60 Жыл бұрын

    Plantain grows pretty much everywhere. I can walk out front and pick a bag full, clean it, put it in EVOO for say 8 weeks, and boom an amazing infusion. Comfrey grows wild as well. You can order them dried off amazon, I just prefer free, lol. I did order comfrey root as I didn't want to dig it up. Our soil is so solid HARD. This past spring, I did a lot of foraging for goodies from red clover to mullein. I like free and enjoy the outdoors. It gives me exercise and something to do for my health. I did plant some comfrey in my backyard. I pray it comes back next spring. I planted in 4 different places 🙏 I will be thrilled if ONE comes up lol 😆 😂

    Hello Olivia, Welcome to my journey as well. Please ask anything you wish. I have used grow bags, pots, cardboard boxes and my own soil so I am quite an explorer. From the grow bags I did yield sweet potatoes however I did not allow them to grow long enough so will be leaving them in longer this coming season. However, if you are putting the grow bag on a patio, I feel it would leak and cause a water issue. I think you would do better with a 5-gallon food grade bucket. Put holes in the bottom and set it on something to catch the water. I hope that helps. We all struggle so don't beat yourself up, please. We live life one moment at a time so give yourself some grace. When i catch myself not "living" just "surviving", I literally say aloud, Cathy get up and LIVE. I usually will get up and get it in gear. I find myself looking for something to can or a plant to attend to and sometimes will tell myself...GO for a walk. Living alone can be challenging as I am accountable to no one but me and it would be so easy to be very lazy. LOL Blessings your way! Cathy
