Need to read the cool flower book by lisa mason zeigler….had always wondered why you didnt start snaps for fall…i had tons in march…so hardy
Thank you! I got a lot of ideas and inspiration! Everything is coming together so well!
Where did you get the cantalope echinacea?
Online at New Garden Plants
Geum is sooo good, and easy to divide. It is great in bouquets
Campanula, also known by their common name - Canterberry Bells
Very good informative video, I made a list while you were talking about all the plants you are going to over-winter. I too am thinking about next spring and what to start this fall. I am in zone 5 *not sure if it's 'a' or 'b' but my climate is much more dry (think dry prairie!) I tried American Legion poppies and they came up great for me! As well as some bupleurum and some violas or Johnny jump ups. The year before I managed to get a white echinacea from seed that only just bloomed this summer. Every year is an experiment - good luck to you and keep the content coming! I have learned so much! Thanks!
I grow both the Single and the Tetra Feverfew and the Tetra always outperforms the single. It is my favorite!!
Oh wow! Good to know!
I'm in Australia, but if you can find Geum Tropical Tempest, it is even better than Totally Tangerine. I have never seen it again here for sale after l bought it. Not sure why. Flowers are larger & more saturated. You can also split them up heaps. I started with one & now have more than 10. Wish we had Cantaloup Echinacea! 😍🥰❤
I’ll have to see if we have that here!
Thanks Christina! 2 questions. Does you co tinue to harvest from the same feverfew over the season? I get a bunch of cuts, but it doesnt fill out again very well. 2nd, would you start plant snaps or sweetpeas now for a fall harvest?
I have never grown sweet peas. You could try starting snaps now but I am not sure if you would get blooms yet this fall. Depends on when your frost is. I get feverfew all season, but my 2nd harvest is never as strong as the first. Hope that helps!
😊
Have you had trouble with bugs on echinacea?
Just with white flowers later in the season
I’m such a fan of your videos and how well you explain everything as to how and why you do things. I’m a first year flower farm and interested in the plug concept of fall growing. Would you happen to know if I were to order the Campanula plugs for fall (without the use of a hoop house or low tunnels) that they will have enough time to get started before my first cold d ap? I’m in zone e 6B in the fingerlakes in NY. I just loved all yours in the video where you show us your beautiful campanula and thought I would give this plant a try. Thanks in advance… Dawn
If you have a Farmer Bailey acct, you can contact them and they can help you with recommendations. You may have to frost cloth them.....but they should be able to help you! I am zone 5 and mine definitely need cover to be thru the winter.
@@SunshineFlora thank you for getting right back. You are just so sweet. I just signed up for an acct with Farmer Bailey this year and will definitely give them a jingle. Have a fantastic weekend ahead! See you at your next video.
This year I purchased at a local nursery for the first time a Geum called Petticoats Peach. It grows 10-12" in zones 5-9. This one is on the shorter size which is perfect for my flower bed. It has spread but no buds no far, maybe next year. Love your flower arrangements.
Grasshoppers decimated my Pretticoats Peach last year. It was so cute! 😢
I am on the look out for the geum and cantaloupe coneflower 🤩😉
Bluestone Perennials has them.
You cannot beat the cantaloupe echinacea! I have probably 5 or so plants and they are fabulous. My new favorite echinacea for this year is called Delicious Candy. It is a deep magenta which opens flat but as the cones develop they are also a deep magenta and wind up looking just like strawberries. It grows probably 20 inches in my garden. I love it.
Ooh! I’ll have to look that one up
Do deer eat the tops of your echinacea?
@@awn8281 Deer are not a problem in my area.
thank you. insane video-take care!🤙
This is my first year growing the Tetra White feverfew. I love it so much that I’m going to double the amount I grow next year!
good to know! Thanks!
Thanks Christina, great choices ! 🌺💚🙃
super💖💖💖💖💖💖nice presentation
Thank you so much
I have a totally tangerine geum . 🌺💚🙃 Mine are already done for the season. 🌺💚🙃
How tall is yours?
@@SunshineFlora just a guess about 18-24 inches tall .🌺💚🙃
Mine didn't like where I planted it. 😢 Lesson learned, not every garden can grow the same.
I enjoy and learn a lot from your videos, thank you! I also LOVE how you are investing in your Downtown area, I feel that is so important and something that alot of us are missing...
thank you!
Wouldn't it be better to conserve water and save the rain water from the roof instead of draining it to the parking lot?
It’s not the best placement for my big water tank. I have another gutter on my other building that is much better placement
@@SunshineFlora Good stuff! I find rain water is so much better for flowers! Cheers!
I like blaze. I’m going to have to try snowball!
Wow! Its looking great and really coming together!💚
Thank you soooo much Christina!! I love looking at all the new developments on your properties!! Well, well done Sunshinydays!!!
Harvesting rainwater at all?
Not yet. Need to get the setup put together
How often do you water them. And I love your videos
Thanks! I check things every day.
Why not just mulch your dahlia patch? Even if it's just a layer of woodchips, it would save a lot of weeding time, as would stop weed seeds from germinating as much. Plus would help with soil life and fertility in the long run. Love watching your videos and seeing you grow and expand. 😊
Lol should have watched the whole thing before commenting. Sorry!
😊😊😊
Holy smokes! You have done alot of expansion...good for you! I love it! You are so organized!!
You inspire me! I am so amazed at the production you are able to get in your relatively small area. And also, how much you must be selling in such a small town. I am a small grower in a town in Minnesota about the same as yours, about 2 hours north of you. I would love to come down and see your space and chat all things growing and selling.
😊
Amazing! So beautiful!
Great update it’s looking great you must be pleased🌻🌻
Looks so much fun! Would you consider a rain barrel for roof rain water since the site of the concrete pad is already a little elevated above the garden grade? water at least some of the garden by gravity-fed irrigation...?
❤
I used to use straw as a mulch, a 3” thick layer, but never again. Too many weeds in those bales of straw! I use compost now as it is terrific for the soil and helps keep weeds down and moisture in. Always a pleasure to see your videos! Happy growing 💐
so the cutting will actually grow/develop a tuber?
Yep!
Fantastic! ❤
Wow, you are expanding a lot! Looks wonderful and exciting. Do you have help? It looks like a lot for one person to look after.
My dad has been helping me get the new area prepped. I plant and harvest it all myself
@@SunshineFlora that’s pretty impressive considering how much you have planted, all at different stages.
Just my opinion but I think once you get all of the beds where you want them things are going to be so much easier for you. 💐💚🙃
Thank you Christina, everything is coming along very nicely ! 💐💚🙃
Thanks for the update! It going to be gorgeous.
Why dont you plant Lillie's and daisies those take your bouquets to the next level
Careful with the straw!!!! Make sure it hasn't been treated with pesticides. It will take out your dahlia's
Things are looking great!
You are doing a fantastic job with all of the renovations and new planting areas!
Does your yarrow fade to white/cream after a couple of years?
Not so far…
I love your tips for bouquets. I tend to wing it with no thought except does it look nice. Your yarrow is gorgeous. I have Love Parade from Baker creek that self seeded really well and i love it (didnt know how to harvest it for bouqs until now). I will order red shades from Johnny's. It's gorgeous 😍 I have had great luck with my Ptomac snaps. The first flush were gigantic! They're on the 2nd flush but not as big because they're side shoots 😢. Do you succession plant snaps so you have them at their biggest size thru the growing season? Great video content and bouqs as always!
I am doing succession planting this year. Already planning for next year too!
What size buckets do you use from Johnny's?
10L. I have both the regular and wide
Wow! Great choices and your creative area to grow them is an inspiration!😊
Thanks so much! 😊
