It's MEL-buhn for locals because we say the word so often. People in Melbourne, Florida probably pronounce it the same way. Melburnia s wouldn't eg pronounce Ashbourne UK as ASH-buhn (but Ashburnians probably do). Cairns is just the usual non-rhotic (AU/UK/Boston) vs rhotic (Nth American) difference.

Hotels (bars) were originally obliged to have rooms like a real hotel. Some of the older style pubs do still have rooms to rent.

The Timezones are weirder than you think. Broken Hill in NSW runs on Adelaide time, Lord Howe island only shifts 30 minutes for their daylight savings change and Australian Central West Time is half way between SA and WA, that is 45 minutes from each, and only applies to a 350 km stretch of highway that has 5 towns with a combined population of less than 200

4:25 20: Croats give to homeless people because we think about money as a useful tool to achieve something, not as a life goal to be rich like in America. Many americans don't realize that, but you transform "money as a tool" to "money as a God"

regarding high pressure sales. is not just in Corona. I liked Alanya but those evil sales men could make me never return. One even hit my brother because he did not want to talk to him as he walked past him. Having said that thre is some good sales men that I purchased from the day after because I could walk out without them being angry.

melbourne - technically you guys are correct because you're saying it how it's spelled. We have bastardised that one, but you are expected to do the same. Cairns is okay with the R for you but not for us.

The drinking age in America used to be 18 just about everywhere. People don't care if you are over 18 because 1) they remember when it was 18 and changing the age requirement didn't change anything. 2) You can go to war and die for your country at 18. 3) You can own a gun at 18. 3) You can vote at 18.

Most of those words that you mentioned are pronounced the Australian way all over the world, except for America. I have worked with people from all over the world and the say all these words the same as in Australia. The bad news sir is that the US is the only exception, what does that tell you. That they are all wrong except the US ?
