Melburnia s wouldn't eg pronounce Ashbourne UK as ASH-buhn (but Ashburnians probably do). Cairns is just the usual non-rhotic (AU/UK/Boston) vs rhotic (Nth American) difference.
Hotels (bars) were originally obliged to have rooms like a real hotel. Some of the older style pubs do still have rooms to rent.

regarding high pressure sales. is not just in Corona. I liked Alanya but those evil sales men could make me never return. One even hit my brother because he did not want to talk to him as he walked past him. Most of those words that you mentioned are pronounced the Australian way all over the world, except for America. I have worked with people from all over the world and the say all these words the same as in Australia. The bad news sir is that the US is the only exception, what does that tell you.
