You could maybe get those pickles off by heating the glue with a heat gun or hairdryer. I've seen people do that with things they want to customise. Also maybe you can paint or draw some detail on the sewing machine. The original soap name is Camay. We had it in England. I don't know if it's still available. People don't use soap bars that much nowadays, it's liquid soap and shower gel.

The thing about temu is to have a ruler with you when shopping miniatures. Personally, I don't shop with vendors who don't give measurements. When there are measurements I do the math. A miniature that measures 2 inches is 24 inches real life so if it's a tomato, it's not dollhouse scale, 1/12th scale. Well, I've never seen a tomato that 2 ft long. I also read through comments to get an idea of how people are using it, giving an indicator of its side. In addition, a lot of temu products are on Amazon. Scroll over there to see if there's one or similar and get an idea of scale. These are the indicators I use and I haven't had an issue with scale since.

I was coming to say the same thing; try to hold the black part in one hand and turn the textured metal part. I suspect that is the part that controls the blade grip and the black piece is just to secure together the top to the handle, & add extra grip. Plus, it means not accidentally opening the blade grip when holding & using the knife, since it’s not where you hold on.

Actual general stores would not necessarily be completely styled with all the wood stains matching except when it’s the only stain in town. One could also add a light wash to the other wood pieces to make them closer but look like the piece is older. If that makes sense.
