While I might call myself a SP Admin with some years of experience under my belt, training myself by watching such great videos like this just causes me to remember what I forgot, and in some cases what I did not know at the time. I'd love to see one on SharePoint Lists, and then compare it to a Document Library. Well done !!!!!!!!

Great content, well explained! Quick question: is there a way to create effective sync between the OneDrive existing (shared) document folders and folders/documents I decide to include in SharePoint? My understanding is that SharePoint has certain size and number of items (files/folders) limitations that don't exist in OneDrive. Ideally I would like to keep some files out of SharePoint (especially if no collaboration is required). Thanks!
@JackFrostDesign9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question. Sharepoint has a 5000 document limit but that only applies to a single“listview”. A library can hold 30 million files. From a strategy standpoint I would personally recommend that you only use Onedrive for personal documents. If you need to store documents that are not intended for collaboration you might create a library that only you can enter. PS. Onedrive is Sharepoint. It's just a limited version of a Sharepoint library. You might watch our video on Onedrive, it's pretty illuminating. We hope this helps.

We have millions of files and there is simply no better metadata than the full file path that can include a dozen (sub-)folder names that themselves represent the metadata! You SIMPLY DON'T USE the crappy Windows Explorer to locate files. Instead, use a decent file manager with flat view option like XYplorer or Dopus, together with Voidtools Everything. Boom!

Hi Adam, you still work in a synchronised folder structure locally on your PC. I use CAD programs that require folder structures, its just locating them an management of their currency is what SharePoint does. And if the library is shared to a teams channel, collaboration with @mentions. I am only very new to it, but it is really amazing. I have been a GSuite business user and only engaged with SharePoint this year. It a bit of mindset shift.

You don't have to give up either method, use SharePoint when you need to update metadata, use windows explorer when it's appropriate.@@AshleyDadd

@@JackFrostDesign are there beginners videos? I don't really understand these videos but I watch them anyways
@JackFrostDesign Жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 This specific series is aimed at the members of an organization's management team that would likely be recruited to be the “steering committee” when building or restoring a Microsoft 365 based intranet. These groups are often tasked with helping to design an intranet without having the strategic or tactical knowledge of what the available components are and how they are intended to be used. If you're looking for technical videos aimed at getting started using these products I would suggest following Kevin Stratvert or the Sharepoint Maven. They both produce excellent “step by step” and " introduction" videos. As you might see from playlists that we generated many years ago, we used to produce those types of videos. This series is focused on educating management teams because there was really nothing aimed at helping them design an effective intranet.
