  Is that rice paper for the leaves? Also what gauge wire do you use? Do you think I could achieve the color on the leaves just by hand painting. Fantastic work!

  Thank you! The leaves are made of wafer paper. I used uncovered wire, because this was the only choice I had at the time. But you can also buy Green Cotton Covered Floral Wire, Amazon has it. The gauge really depends on the size of your leaves. I believe I used 26Ga. As for the painting the leaves - that's what I usually do (airbrush was my new experiment), but if you have zero experience with wafer paper, it can be tricky. Wafer paper can't tolerate moist and can be easily dissolved by water. I have a few video-tutorials with leaves painting process, you can check it out.   Para esta rosa en particular usé alrededor de 11 pétalos pequeños, 14 medianos y 6 grandes. Es posible que necesite más o menos, dependiendo de su diseño personal. Puede que lo haga mal, pero esa es mi manera y estoy compartiendo mi experiencia.

  Puede usar piping gel o muy poca agua para pegarlo. Yo uso papel oblea pegamento casero: 1 hoja de oblea sin color 45-50 ml de agua hirviendo Se puede agregar un poco de jarabe de maíz para que el pegamento sea más pegajoso. Debes cortar el papel en pedazos pequeños, agregar agua caliente para que el papel se disuelva por completo, revolver bien para ayudar al proceso. Tu mezcla debe verse como pegamento líquido. Opcionalmente puedes agregar un poco de sirope de maíz. Puedes empezar a usarlo cuando se enfríe. El pegamento es bueno por 2 días y debe guardarlo en el refrigerador después de terminar de usarlo.   All the coloring used were powder dust? Is it much better than coloring diluted in gin or water? I found it hard to handle when using wet coloring.

  I have never used petal dust with vodka for my wafer paper. I use either food coloring gel with very little amount of water, or petal dust without anything. This rose was colored with dry petal dust only.

  Thank you for your comment! It really depends on your recipe. In general, you should check how many servings your regular recipe is for, and what diameter is the cake with the regular 4"-5" height. Since the cake has to be tall enough and has to be carved, you'll probably need to double the recipe. I'd go with 8" cake with 6-8 layers depending how tall you want your cake to be. It's always good to have enough room to carve, especially for the first time. You can make cake pops with pineapple design in case you have a lot of leftovers. I also recommended that you freeze the cake for an hour at least before you carve it. Freezing the cake helps with fewer crumbs.

  @@dawnhanley9600 Wilton 125. But again it all depends on the size of your cake. You can use smaller or larger tip, so it would look right
