I can't remember exactly as I have uninstalled the CS-80v years ago, but it starts from a fairly basic brass sound, and the key is to modulate the pitch through an envelope (the attack of the ADSR modulating the pitch) at the start of each note.

Does a "rig rundown" of Steve's board from this era exist? His dirty tone in later years was a bit too much for my taste but everything here is unbelievable

It's amazing to watch Steve FLY on that fret bar like he does, let alone hear the magic he is capable of! And then there is Alan Sloan.. OMG what he plays on that fiddle/violin is astounding! All Of these musicians are Top Shelf, cream of the crop!!
