love it, that is the principal of learning a martial art to learn how to use it in a violent confortation., after I whip your ass then we can practice meditation. spirituality and how we can all get along. My philosophy is this I'm a man of peace but if you bring war then war is what your going to get after that then we can begin the peaceful negotiations

FWIW, I had the privilege of studying for a few years with Moy Yat and was able to work out with William. The cliche about the apple not falling far from the tree is very true in this case. His understanding of WIng Chun principles is rich and deep.

I'm sharing this with my friend and hoping he will practice with me since we don't have schools here. I know I'm losing the reflex by just doing forms and training alone and I NEED a training partner for 2 man drills and chi sao before I lose everything I learned and drilled into my muscle memory. Too bad we're so far away from VA (almost Savannah GA) for him to feel that real kung fu instead of just hearing me talk about it. I gladly drove 90 minutes to and from Richmond classes (& brought 2 ppl for a while but they quit... not for everybody, i guess- especially when we were in "C" school Navy training all day/some nights) but we dont have a single damn wing chun place anywhere remotely near here in SC- not even shitty ones. lol. I'd take a shitty school over nothing and just question the instruction if it is whack.. And you all know you cant pressure a friend into going with you to class and if you try to share some basic knowledge, they give up on it. they only do it 3 or 4 months, id guess. Thats MY friends time training. I probably just need to make the trip to a seminar event and see if I can get my Chum Kiu shifting right with my messed up spine spot holding up the upper body weight as I shift. I've been stuck a while trying to do that right and I hope I'm doing it wrong or that there is another way to do it without hurting myself by grinding a lumbar nerve.. Anyway, that was long... sorry. let Sifu Barry (Moy Lung) know I said hello please and if Moy Tung reads this then "Hey, it's Pablo from FB". Those 2 always kept me 100% physically and mentally engaged in learning new stuff and I loved it. Oh, and Rick Hopkins worked with me and pushed me. I WILL GO TO A SEMINAR SOON or at least within a year. Gotta calculate expenses and save up first... Holy crap, how much can you type in a KZread comment? I feel like I deserve an extra long comment award. Lol bless u if u made it this far 😁😁🤘🤘

Do you spar? Do you test the skills against someone who not chi sao'ing and who's keeping their distance when you are trying to get on the inside? I believe wing chun is very effective but like anything you have to spar.

The Ving Tsun System, as handed down in the Yip Man, Moy Yat and Moy Tung lineages includes the system of Chi Sao (Sticking Hands) two-person exercises. After 6-12 mo of training, this exercise includes pushing horse (Toi Ma) and full contact application of techniques to the chest, which is safe and great mind-body conditioning, in addition to training distance, timing and how to hit with with force and power, while controlling and trapping hands. Higher levels include other energies and techniques, as well as Mai Sang Jong, in which participants start at distance and immediately close.

@@trondyne3513 There are 3 generations, close to 30 schools teaching under Grandmaster Moy Tung. Some new students have no previous martial arts experience, some have a lot. There are many examples of people in this lineage using this Kung Fu successfully for self-defense in real world fights eg streets, bars, workplaces and homes, as well as improving their lives.

@@ericgraham3344 We train and teach Ving Tsun Kung Fu for health and self-defense, not sparring or competition, but if students want to do that, they can. Many Moy Tung-lineage students have used their skills for self-defense in the real world, in addition to enjoying other benefits of Kung Fu training. Pak Sao thru Chi Sao and and Mai Sang Jong are pressure testing, among other other things. There are well over 20 Moy Tung Kung Fu branches where someone can take an intro lesson to learn more. www.kungfuhq.com/branch-locations PS In case it wasn't clear, Grandmaster Moy Tung does not necessarily monitor this social media channel; this account is managed by RVA staff.

I agree about what you are saying, but I must say if all a Sifu does is teach you how to fight, and that’s it,well let’s just say that can be very catastrophic to the teachers mentality, and most definitely catastrophic to the students mentality.

I really wish my whole time in Norfolk was spent at the Norfolk school. I never even saw the sifu at the other place- the kung fu forms club where the master was probably a fortune cookie machine. The Norfolk school was amazing and my dumb ass broke my foot skateboarding the weekend after going there and then I had to move to SC anyway. Please keep posting content!
