  Useful video, helped me to replace a battery. Two screws removed at 2:03 hold a hard drive. No need to remove them to open a laptop case. These two screws are M3 shorter screws. All other screws are M2.5 L5. Learned it hard way...

  When I try to take the keyboard out, all that happens is that piece surrounding the keys comes up while the keys themselves don’t want to, and I ended up breaking the control key in the process.

  That could happen to me too. However I noticed I was lifting just a plastic cover, not the whole keyboard. You need a thin screwdriver and you need to push it deeper down to grab the keyboard.

  is it after that windows symbol or is it always just off? if it is always, check the cable above the fan with that kind of fabric around it. It should be connected. If its after that windows logo your harddisk may be broken

  You are only allowed to use the same parts. When you buy them, usually you use parts numbers to find them. Parts numbers are written on the old ones used on the laptop. For example if you want to change DVD reader, you remove the old one and you flip it upside down and you will see some numbers written on it..

  My keyboard plate won't pull out, even with all screws removed. Something in the back right of the top plate has hold of it :( "I need to clean my fan filter etc. Guys" :((

  It's vary easier than that to remove the Hard-Drive > Take the screws out from bottom right of your n5050 and take a pointed object and lift the top right corner of the keyboard plate, reach in and pull out the hard drive or push it back into it's socket if came lose as mine does guite a-bit. Replace screws > Optional. Done! :)
