Beautiful tribute to Brian Jones. The Stones are sounding sensational 🎉🎉 Brian Jones was the Rolling Stones most definitely. Brian you left way too soon. You will certainly be missed 😢 🎉🎉

I was there. 16 years old, a budding hippie, at a progressive boarding school in South East England. I'd arrived in the early afternoon for the Blind Faith concert the previous month, and I wanted to get closer to the stage this time. So I skipped Saturday morning lessons and left the school at 6 am without telling anyone. I was so close to the high stage I could barely see Charlie Watts. There was hell to pay when I got back to school, but it was well worth it.

Ray Manzarek with his keyboard playing defined the sound for the Doors music. That’s why Jim Morrison said that if anyone was the Doors it was Ray Manzarek. He also said that everyone in the band was the Doors. That meant that everyone in the band was an important member.

I love the Rolling Stones, especially anything live from 1969, but I have always thought that this shit was sloppy and awkward as fuck with Mick butchering a few verses of Adonais supposedly in honor of Brian Jones and then the way that all of those poor beautiful butterflies were kept broiling in cardboard boxes until they were unceremoniously shaken out in lieu of rose petals only to die littered upon the stage and all over the heads of pretty much everyone in the audience before launching into a coked out clumsy version of a tune that was done way better by Johnny Winter. Then again at least it wasn't Altamont, thankfully✌🏼

My final in painting class in college. I did an homage to his album cover using the metal puzzle pieces against a green felt pool table top. Took well over a hundred hours. I wonder if that canvas is still around somewhere.
