A look into the exciting day of a veteran Farrier, Jeff Phalen and his crew. They won't stop shoeing until every horse is fitted and ready for show or go.
Awesome vid - very concise. Thank you!! On a humorous note: Why crease-pullers are essentially useless. 🤣

You are a great farrier. Too many farriers cut the clinches and just pull the shoe with the nails still in the shoe. I love the fact that you pulled each nail out.

Thank you. As a trainer, I have come to realize this is essential part of what I need to know. Just this morning a client's horse pulled a shoe while being a brat in the round pen. Going to end up going barefoot so if I had the equipment already I could have actually pulled the other front shoe.

Hello, my horse was recently shoed my a new farrier (we moved) and the top of the clip went INTO the hoof. I was told it was not hurting my horse and only looked bad aesthetically. After one week, the side of the hoof started cracking. After 4 weeks, the lateral side cracked entirely at the level the clip was puncturing the hoof. I asked for the shoe to be removed, but again was told by manager that It was only aesthetic. The horse was shoed after the 5 week period and there was so much breakage (the height of the clip), that even after showing the lateral side was broken and “empty”. Im having a hard time believing that a puncturing clip is not hurting my horse or putting my horse at risk of lameness. Am I wrong? From your videos and pictures I’ve seen the clip should lay on the hoof or the shape of the clip is cut from the hoof for the clip to fit. And when the Hale was removed the clip that was puncturing was noticeably bent to the inside.

Why do you have to cut down the other farriers is it like you need to build your ego or something and say it's a professional job now how do you know the other farrier is not a professional that's just b******* to have to cut down other barriers for your own ego really didn't like that much

That doesn't hurt! Their hoofs are like our nails does it hurt when we clip our nails no it don't! Now don't do this yourself only professionals need to do this. If you don't know what your doing you can drive that nail up into the actual foot/pulp and yes that will hurt the horse.
