    @@MidnightButterflyDesigns Aww. thank you for replying. I spent TWO days on that bottom wing. I finally gave up & decided my butterfly would be happy to wear a leaf for a wing. It looks like a leaf. Upsetting. Tje top wing looks ok. How on earth were you able to cut the curvy lines with an Exacto knife? Pure 100% MAGIC. Thank you again for sharing such a great tutorial,...you did a wonderful job. I know it's time consuming & a lot of work. Cheers. I adore your accent.

    @@ameswho9548 I'm sure it came out great! Sometimes, if you don't have a big bendy blade, if you cut a straight line and the shape the clay gently on both sides (so it matches when you put it back together) you can get a similar effect. 💙

    If this is a tutorial, I wish you could actually do a detailed (not fast forward) video with everything shown in the camera view. Because there aren’t many or any tutorials on making moth canes. I’m new to polymer clay (taken tons of ceramics classes in undergrad BFA program but new to all of this)… just wish tutorials now a-days showed regular time speed videos and taught you how to do things

    Thanks for commenting! This was never meant to be a tutorial as I'd never made one before, it was just want came out if my hands 😅 It's more a 'look what I did' video! I'd like to make more tutorials, especially on moths because you're right, there are hardly any moth tutorials! I'll bear it in mind when I start making videos again 💙 thank you for your feedback!

    Not criticizing but you need to find a much more stable place for your video camera. It’s wobbling alot

  • @MidnightButterflyDesigns
    @MidnightButterflyDesigns Жыл бұрын

    It does that because the table wobbles, even the most stable of tables - without a full over the table rig, which would then mean changing the art room round, unfortunately this isn't possible. Thanks for your feedback!

    Hi your butterfly s are stunning. Just as a reference you are using bullseye canes not jelly rolls. Jelly rolls are stacked layers of clay rolled up so you have a striped twist where as bullseyes are start with a single colour plug of clay them wrapped in a strip of clay. I’m really enjoying your tutorials though I will be giving them a go. Thank you. I’ve subbed to your channel.

    What kind of varnish u use? Is water based polyurethane varnish good for air dry polymer clay?

  • @MidnightButterflyDesigns
    @MidnightButterflyDesigns3 жыл бұрын

    I'll be honest - I don't tend to varnish mine, but when I do I use a water based polyurethane. Oil based varnishes will react with polymer clay so just be aware that any varnish needs to be water based. Also, pro tip, apply a couple of very thin layers. This will minimise bubbles 💙

    Thank you much, the butterfly is beautiful. I’ve made long skinner blends so I’m confused as to how to run this one thru the pasta machine. It would be nice to actually see you running thru the machine. The visual running thru the machine would be very helpful. Are you always folding the skinner blends with same colors touching and always putting it into the pasta machine fold facing down?

  • @MidnightButterflyDesigns
    @MidnightButterflyDesigns3 жыл бұрын

    With Skinner blends you must always fold the same way and always put in the pasta machine fold first. If you turn the clay and fold, you'll end up just mixing ALL the colours together. Hope that helps!
